Christ Paul, ease up! It is not a full on race car, but then again, I would not call it a mild setup either.

You will have to keep on top of it, high performance means high maintainence. You sure it needs new head gaskets? Did it get that hot? If it did, you should check those Eddie's before slapping it all back together.

It takes time mate, it ran horribly when I first got it! 15 sec 1/4's! The previous owner had a best of 12.3. I just could not find it.

Then I had a whole bunch of other problems.... But I still loved the car.
It went south on Pete's driveway, remember that day Pete?

I still wish I had it, I regret the day I sold it. If you want reliable let's trade! :D :D :D

Fixed the charging problem tonight, black wire from the bulkhead connector under the dash had melted and broken clean off.

I know it's going to need looking after and I have no problem with that.
Would have been nice to put a few more miles on it first though.

It does need head gasket/s as it is pressurising the coolant and it failed a sniff test.

I will be going through the heads milling if reqd,cc'ing chambers and a bit of porting while there off, plus x-ray for cracks courtesy of a friendly neighbour.
After that check piston to valve clearance, new electric water pump 4 core aluminium rad and that should about sort it..

Im pretty used to looking after high maintainance stuff, having ran a 600 hp motorcycle for 3 seasons..
Machine work is also no problem as I have the machines to sort that..
Sorry if you felt it was a bit of a spit the dummy rant, these things happen and can be sorted..

Hey, we all have bad days mate, might want to re consider the leccy water pump though. Heard they are a right PITA on the street!

Enjoyable but hot, i only did 3 runs, had a rocker leak, sorted it i think.
10.57 got a bit out of shape and 2 10.49's at 128, 60ft's were a bit off.
Glad you got home alright Mick.

Sorry you had problems but these cars are 40 plus yrs old and are a work in progress.I have blown the motor, gearbox and propshaft all in the last 21/2 yrs, i was beginning to think i was jinxed.
Once you've fixed it, you'll feel better again.
Well done on the pb Karl, close race with Vic as well, two 65 belv's :thumbright:

Any pointers on a decent unit with good flow jeff??
I don't mind using a manual pump,as long as it moves the volume.

Good to see you are getting stuck into it.

BTW, I would not go with an electric water pump on a street driven car, as they do not have the same level of flow as a traditional belt driven one.........

Just get a high vol stock style pump and stick a viscous fan on.
I had one on mine and it;s the coolest the car's ever run.
If it was a street car i'd stick another one on it.

I'd have hope for better than that on the back of a recovery truck ;)

Good luck with the car.
