Nothing major , but tackled a task I havnt done before.
Gearbox Oil and filter and band adjustment.
Now. I have had the truck serviced a couple of times in the past by a mechanic. I have him my book and instructed him to do what it needs. So I presumed at least once it would have had the box seen to, but thought I'd do it as it was due one either way.
So after my lovely trans fluid shower I inspected the pan

Not what I expected !!! Still. It's always shifted smooth as silk and fluid didn't smell burned so perhaps not as bad as it looks ?
Not a bad job to do. Bit messy , but I will now be changing fluid at recommended intervals.
One thing I did have to do was compress the " washers" where the filter screws on as it was too thick for the screws to get a bite. Is this normal ??
Had a quick spin in the old girl and no different really. I'll see if it feels any better after a long run tomorrow.
Next jobs before winter. Diff oil change then body work.

That surprises me , you being a biker Pete. Quite a " habit" when I was on two wheels.Pete wrote:One task I overlooked (because it is messy and a Pain) is brake fluid replacement.
I now do it every time I get a new (old) vehicle....I am sure this gets "overlooked" on professional services.........
Not the best of jobs though I agree.
I just presumed the truck had been done as it has always shifted so smoothly. Just shows how well they are built I suppose ?
