It was a Daimler engined '32 Ford Roadster Dave, mate of mine ended up with the remains of it in the early '80's.
Good Shout Blue, I knew I had seen it & was convinced it was rod based, but was thinking Pop
On the right track Mark, the pop based one was called Popwork Orange with murals of scenes from the movie

I should have known!!!

I saw the car on the trailer at Duncs a couple of weeks ago, but he asked me to keep quiet about it being sold, should have guessed it was you Pete!

That's on hell of a car, good luck with it. :thumbright:

Well done Pete, one of my favourite cars. I had been nagging Dunc for ages to get it back out!
Looking forward to the thread. :thumbright:

Thanks for the nice comments and the additional pictures, it all adds to the story.

Now that Jon's car is finished ( ;) ), Pete cut the old cage out and is going to measure up for a new cage.

Floorpans complete with man-size Chassis connectors is looking good!

Bit more of a "Challenge" at the back as it already has wheel tubs full of rubber, so not got any firm ideas on what to do here.....

....answers on a post card, please..........

Whats the challenge?.........buy new 29.5x10.5 slicks and some good double adjustable shocks and either run the SS springs or Caltracs. Duncan was only 2/10ths off on ET for the MPH with that set up, you wanna keep the car together as much as you can don't you?

The challenge is 7800 rpm and no space to put taller tyres on, so have to think a bit more creatively..............

Have you driven a fast car with the arse up in the air?

I did, hence the improved roll cage going in; not to be recommended............

Those period cars were not going that fast by modern standards, but they had engine size restrictions.....

I think it needs to stay with 4.56 as you gotta turn those rpm's, otherwise if you go to 4.10 you'll only be pulling around 6800 trap with verter slip and not using all the hp, how much that will slow you down???... this is assuming you'll be 3800lbs all in and a 900hp motor. Duncan had it spot on. Of course if you can build that motor to produce 900+hp for the weight/ET you want at a lower rpm level all well and good, a dyno run would be beneficial, from the little I know about race Hemi's they really get going from about 6000 onwards to 8+ when making these big hp numbers, only alternative is to lose the weight somehow without cutting the car. A Hemi may look the nuts, but a pain in the arse compared to a big wedge.

you are so right les, the hemi needs big rpm,s to use the design and head flow but thats not good with a long stroke long rod your asking for trouble at high rpm ,s on bigger than 500 cubes the wedge gives brutall torque and can get it all done within 7000 but its not a blinkin hemi, pete would be better of keeping all the running gear ratio,s etc as is lose weight and buy a barton 426 super stock mtr they leave at 6,000 all the way up to 9k that must be fantastic and make 900 + hp from just over 426,
