Red rear indicators and mot
Moderator: Moderators
Back to the original subject, on my 68 Charger I used these lamps on the front without having to modify the side lights or wiring and they work really well.
Also use the same lamps on the rear in the reverse light position, just bought some new lamp holders with dual contacts, added the two extra wires through from the turn signal indicator, disabled the turn feed to the break lights and all works well. So I still have working reverse lights and turn indicators all in one.
When these lamps get feeds to both the white and the amber, they just flash alternately between the two. on indication they just flash amber of course.
The LED are of the new type, so very bright, seems like a nice solution, that involves the least amount of modification from original.
But I have not had the car out in the sunshine yet to see if the rear ones are bright enough, still rebuilding front suspension

In many cases vehicles have things fitted that at the time of construction were not a legal requirement. If these things are fitted when vehicle is presented for MoT,they have to work correctly. If they're not fitted.......
Fog lamps is a common one.

Seat belts, cat converters and soon to be DPF's are other examples!latil wrote:In many cases vehicles have things fitted that at the time of construction were not a legal requirement. Do your indicators still flash ok? There's a thread on DC.com regarding the same thing, it states that the indicator flashing relay had to be changed for a no load flashing module for use with led's, to allow them to flash correctly.Glen63 wrote:Back to the original subject, on my 68 Charger I used these lamps on the front without having to modify the side lights or wiring and they work really well.

At some point someone has converted mine and moved the sidelights up into the headlights, making my sidelights useless due to the sidelight circuit alone not opening the headlamp covers.
I want to move them back to the original position and switchback led's would solve the problem

1st August 1986 is the date when vehicles first need side repeaters and hazard lights. Any vehicle after 1st January 1936 will need to be fitted with indicators. 1st September1965 is the date when all vehicles need amber indicators front and rear.Mick70RR wrote:Vehicles first used before 1st August 1986 don't need indicators. Just disable them for the MOT.
Its all here http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4s01000401.htm
