So nice to see it still getting attention from a long term owner,
Obviously still a few of us nutters left !

Another small update in the Charger's life. My brother's youngest Stuart got married beginning of June to his lovely Jessica back home on the Isle of Lewis. With us all invited to the wedding I decided on taking the Charger so my dad could see how its changed and another reason which I'll come to later.
A week before we're due to head off I decided to swap the intake and carb, wife thought I was mad

Internally looking okay I think.

Nevertheless I got it sorted in time and it was good to go.

And the other reason for taking the Charger back...
You don't get many opportunities like these when the distances are large, guessing 22yrs between photos.

Brilliant road trip!
it must have been a fantastic experience, all the more for taking the Charger when most people would have taken the daily - good for you!!!

Great story Dave and what a good idea to take the Charger back and remember, compare and photograph the history.
Well done

How did the car feel with the carb and intake swap, any better?
I'm considering going back to the 2bbl, I noticed very little difference except reduced drivability and worse fuel consumption with the 4bbl.
Great photo opportunity 22 years apart.

Carb was fitted as it was straight out of box and has had no adjustments other than the mixture screws for highest vacuum.
Think its using slightly more fuel than before but not much, I'm still getting the same ranges out of the tank going to shows as before and don't feel the need to top up on route just to be sure.
Its definitely starting easier from cold, although it does suffer with heat-soak if it stops any longer than just a quick fuel refill, but then I was starting to get that with the cheap Chinese 2bbl I had on it, which needed a few pumps to get running again after filling up.
It cruises better holding a steadier throttle than the cheap 2bbl but acceleration of roundabouts is flat with all noise and no significant go. I've got a 1/2" spacer to try to see if that helps with the heat-soak. Also have the calibration kit for the carb now so we'll see how things go with a few changes.
Going start with the step up springs as I'm pulling 17-18 hg of vacuum which is higher than what the stock springs are for so I believe.
It's all something new to learn
