I see today that they're supporting Vista Chino (previously Kyuss Lives.... previously Kyuss) this Oct/Nov.
Got tickets for the Camden Town Roundhouse gig, so that's a bit of a bonus
Likewise - fancied seeing The Answer so booked tix for that gig a while ago, then saw that Tracer are supporting - another great new band we've already seen headlining a couple of times, so another great double-bill

Great gig last Friday at Camden Town's Electric Ballroom:
The Answer, supported by Tracer, supported by Cage The Gods.
We saw Tracer earlier this year with Cage The Gods supporting and were very impressed with them then - young British band (1 English, 1 Scottish, 1 Welsh & 1 Irish). Nothing too original, tbh, just well played, high energy, classic rock. And the rest of the crowd loved them too. Only an ep released so far but expect to hear more of them as time passes...
Aussie band Tracer took it up a notch tho - good as CTG are, Tracer's quality and experience shone thru (and theyre only young too). 2 1/2 (an ep) great albums in to a long career, hopefully.
Hadnt seen The Answer headlining before (saw them on AC/DC's last tour when I thought they were an ok support band) but have 3 of their albums which have some great songs and have moments of originality, tho on the whole theyre quite blusey, quite Black Crowesy, despite being from Norn Iron (Co Down).
They went down a storm on Friday and worked the crowd well. The early drum solo and later guitar solo were a bit too 70's (not in a good way, imho) for my taste but on the whole theyre very slick & professional for a relatively new band

....and on Saturday....
Spent a couple of hours in Wembley Drum Centre and came away with this (had to pay for it tho )
The 'boy' Andrew (19 now ) has been managing for the last few years with a Roland electronic kit which he uses for practice at home and practice at a couple of local 'studios' (well, converted sheds & barns) but he has a gig coming up where he'll need a 'proper' kit, and I didn't want him to have to borrow one again, like he did last time.
Should last him a few years, at least until he starts playing the O2 Arena or Wembley Stadium....

I got a TAMA kit, pretty good for the money, skins give a good 'studio' sound.
Just upgrade the symbols later and it'll last a decade.
I got a Premier kit that I got nearly twenty years ago now and it still performs flawlessly, top quality Bananarama!, all the hardware is just as new

Cheers Ade Yes, we looked at a couple of other kits and this seemed about the best for the price. There was a Pearl kit for about the same ££ but Andrew was happy with Tama. I'd class it as an 'intermediate' - there were much cheaper kits that are more for beginners and there were plenty at 3x the price, but this will do him till he's earning for himself.
The 'symbols' (cymbals down this neck of the woods ) are a decent set - £300 worth and are compatible, quality-wise, with the drums. so should last a fair few years.
PS - without hearing the name spoken, I always assumed TAMA was pronounced the same at the river Tamar in Devon, ie pronounce the R at the end, but now I've heard it spoken a few times, to remember, I think of how the housekeeper on Tom & Jerry used to call 'Thomas', but without the 'S' at the end...

Yep that pronunciation exactly right Rob
Them symbols are new Zildjans, the old ones are better, heavier and have slightly better tone, perfectly good for that kit tho mate, its just a case of customising the kit to produce the sound you want, like bass kick pads and skin cutouts.
Hope he has fun with it
