Yeh that is Layson's statement though. They aren't exactly going to put their hands up and say "yes we're as guilty as the man behind the grassy knole".

It does sound very plausable though, can't wait to see the outcome.

If it's true we should all boycott Chrysler products...

oh, hang on! :?

I can fully understand copyright.... no problem there at all

thing I don't get is this

and I don't see it makes a jot whether it's a 40 yr old vehicle or one straight off the line

my ram is a slt lamarie 3500 heavy duty

so I badge it as a SRT10 not that I would want to but if I did what the hell has that got to do with DC... err sorry.. the suckers that now own the company

they are bust all but and why.... 1974 all over again, gas prices through the roof and what have they got while the average american is concerned with fuel for once in there entire life..... absolutly jack Bananarama!

the rep right now is based on rams and gen 3 are a POS

right now they couldn't fight there way out of a paper bag, i'll stick srt10 badges on no worries or RT on a 318 charger, nowt to do with anyone other than the guy that wants to buy it and that comes down to the seller for misenterpretation, still jack to do with a corparate suit in detroit

A mate of mine in LA was just telling me he bought a couple of Challenger script emblems for his front fenders from Laysons and they didn't fit. The pegs did not line up with the stock fender holes.

He tried to return them but Laysons refused to take them back.

That in itself says something about this guy to me. I know plenty of his ex customers in the States are laughing their heads off to see him come to this. Just desserts they call it.

Some interesting views being posted recently.

Neil, I think you are bang on here mate.

Will be interesting to see the outcome. I very much doubt the Police would act on a frivolous, vexatious claim. Something is going on and it will be interesting to see how the cards fall. :?

LAYSONS

Post by TonyO »

I regret to inform you all that our Special Guests, Laysons Restorations will not be able to attend this years MoparEuroNats due to unforseen circumstances.
However, they do plan to come over sometime in the future.

Having seen some really daft and amusing posts on the Laysons siuation, I would like to post this really down to earth statement. It maybe Laysons today but who else in the future? Would you like to go back to the prices before repros were around? Or will folks accept the NOS parts at astronomical money? Food for thought.

I'm not defending Laysons and I do understand the need for trademark laws, however I find it disturbing that Chrysler says they are making counterfeit parts when Chrysler itself does not make these same parts anymore.

Just my opinion however I believe Chrysler turned their backs on classic Mopar fans decades ago and left us with nothing. The old Mopars become valuable and they decide to cash in on us by forcing licensing of parts they themselves destroyed years ago and do not make today.

I know they, as an example, own the "Charger" name, however who cares if a company creates emblems specifically for cars built 40 years ago.....emblems that Chrysler itself no longer makes...I don't see this having any material impact on their current brand or car offerings. This is, again in my opinion, purely Chrysler cashing in on our hobby. If you recall when they launched the new Charger they dismissed classic Charger fans who responded negatively as irrelevant and living in the past. Irrelevant but worthy of having our "living in the past" hobby tapped for $$. They have the legal right, but I think the motives are pure greed.

Over to you guys.

Tony, it's been said before, you don't post very often, but when you do it's a peach! 8-)

I think the posts amusing and otherwise have, in the main been good, with some sensible and valid comments.

I wouldn't like to take sides on this one because I feel both Chrysler and Laysons have a case. I just can't help thinking that a breakdown in communication between the two companies resulted in this unfortunate situation.

Love 'em or hate 'em I think it would have been good to have them at the Euronats...after all, you don't HAVE to buy the stuff!;)
