The Truk rad started steaming last week
I removed the rad, plugged the pipes and filled it with water.
Once I'd carefully scraped the fins away from the wet bit I spotted the leak easily.
I cleaned it with wire wool & plumbers flux, then I tried using a gas soldering iron without the bit (like a mini blowtorch) but couldn't get enough heat into it. Next I tried my hot air gun and this did the trick! I was able to drop blobs of solder onto the hole and control the heat easily til I got a good dollop covering the pinhole.
I've only driven a few miles but seems to be holding

Fingers crossed it holds.
If it does. Another successful bodge

Well a combination of neglect and lack of knowledge has bit me on the ass...
A rear wheel locked up on me on Wednesday night! Luckily I was only doing 40 so no major drama. It freed off when I reversed a couple of yards, so we suspected the pinion bearing. I drove it very slowly home yesterday (about 6 miles) with no further drama.
I've just split the axle (hate working in the street

) and the good news is that the diff is fine, it's the axle/wheel bearing that's disintegrated!
The cause?
Not enough grease in the bearing and poor adjustment!

Not a big job thankfully Paul.

Axle sorted
I got the bearing from Rodley, cut the old one & wedding ring off and pressed the new on.
New axle fluid too!
All correctly adjusted up and back on the road

I have a load of building work to do on the house shortly so I thought I'd better re-deck the pick-up bed.
I've done it in 2 layers of 9mm shuttering ply. They were damaged so I got nearly 3 sheets for £30
I drenched both sides in rot-proofer before screwing them down.
I'm also gonna bolt right through to the chassis at each corner in an attempt to reduce the bangs and rattles from the bed bouncing up and down!
