Hey Clivey, give the Lad a break. He's entitled to voice his opinion on prices as far as I'm concerned. £8-£10k does seem excessive for a paint job to be honest. Its not live he's commenting on the quality of work or anything. The amount of verbal Cock Sucking that get's written about JC's place is almost unbearable. Its refreshing to have another opinion.

And why the MOD's have not decided to have a quite word with Mr RRUNNER is beyond me. He continually belittles anyone who 'Dares' consider using another paint Shop or even thinks about carrying the work out themselfs. He also insultes them by either claiming they are either poor or stupid. He voices this opinion whenever someone mentions Paint or a Resto in a thread and them goes of on a tirade about how great JC is and how you'd be a fool to take your car anywhere else.

I can see why he always ends his posts with three :P :P :P Its an impression of him ridding himself of the milkey White fluid hes just brought fourth!

This thread has been split and moved to here, as it is no longer primarily about Andy's Charger. Please continue the debate here (and remember to keep the Workshops topics specifically about the car the topic concerns).

You can still comment about Andy's Charger in the original topic here: http://www.moparuk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25332

Thanks.

Are you around the Birmingham area? I have a painter pal round that area, he is very good, he will probably help you out, if you need it.

I like the idea of doing it yourself! There are many FANTASTIC painters around. We have a very good one round here.

But remember.... You will not get a great finish with shoddy tools! Get yourself a good gun, and a good compressor!

Best of luck mate.... I admire you!

Best Thread in Ages :D :D :D

Personally i would`nt spend 10k on paint, but if that`s your think and you feel it gives you the best results then why not???

Bet i`ve spent more than that on ciggies over the years which i recon is better than wasting it on a motor ;) and Bri`s platform shoe collection can`t have been cheap either :D

Spend your money how ya want cos you ain`t taking it with you when you Pop ;)

I would say a topnotch paint on a B body would be between 6-8K.

Personally, I would rather do it myself. I remember my old Magnum... I painted that, and re trimmed it! Had loads of compliments about it, when I told them I done it all myself, they were gobsmacked!

Truth is, I enjoyed doing it so much, 9 months later, I painted and re trimmed it again! I can't wait to get my own booth, I dream of being dust free! When I finally get to my life's change, I will charge £100 - 150 a day. For paint, graphics and retouching.... I will take it steady and enjoy each hour.

Honestly, if you have the space to do it, do it, as I said, I am sure my mate Paul in Brum. would help with advice, if that is where you are at.

Good for you mate! Have fun...... Keep the costs down, and enjoy! And remember, it is your car at the end of the day!

Have you painted a car before? There is some great info on the net. There is a whole article, on a guy painting an E type in his shed..... 1st time he tried it, then went out and won trophies! All for a BUDGET OF ABOUT $2K! How cool is that?

What colour you going for?
