I don't really know what to say, you have all been so kind, not only on here but with all the phone calls and a lot of you calling around to see me in person.

The Police and the fire investigators both say it was started deliberately, SOCO have been around and said that because it was a fire and the amount of water used to put the fire out any evidence would have been destroyed.

The Charger is probably not as bad as I first thought but it is still a Bananarama! mess, it should be going back to Spectrum but I'm not sure.

I have had to make 3 separate claims, Building, Contents and Car,
The building insurance seem to be OK, but neither of the other two want to pay out for car spares or accessories, so what happens to the 2 Charger steering wheels and two thumb wheel radios that I have in the garage, Scott said I should try and claim for them as collectables or memorabilia.

As it was a Bank Holiday weekend and another one coming up it will be next week before anything starts to happen.

Thanks to Clive for the offer of his Charger as it's just sitting in his garage but I had to say no as i would not have a garage to keep it in.

You should all check the small print on your insurance policies and see what you are and what you are NOT covered for.

After what happened last year I don't know what direction I will go in after I get the Charger back, I have a lot of thinking to do but i will let you all know when I do.

Once again, many thanks to you all.

Derek.

I've only just noticed this thread and I've got to say those photos made me feel sick. I really enjoyed your video and thought it was great that you were back on the road again and having fun and wished I could have joined in.

I started work on my charger today and thought to myself that I hope I can keep my car as long as you have kept yours so my heart just sank when I saw this.

Money is tight for me at the moment as is the case with a lot of people but I'll happily donate to a rebuild fund.

I'd like to help in some way if I can.

Matt. :(

Awful news Derek. Can't believe what a bad past few months it's been for you with this car.
I wish you all the best with what ever decision you take next. Nice to see so many offers of help.

Havent posted before now cos I'm left absolutely speechless by this.

Needless to say, in a situation like this, despite everyone's kind offers of help, you'd be expecting your insurance companies to jump to it, but reading your last post Del, it looks like that might not be as straight forward as you'd have hoped for.

What the problem with the contents insurance? Doesnt it cover garage contents?

Well worth checking all our policies - sorry it's taken summat like this to bring it to light

Didn't post anything until now as I was left totally speechless after reading about it and seeing the pic. We can only echo what everyone else has said though.

you're more than welcome to any spare bits that we have if you want them, even though we are so far away from you, put our name down for any help you need.

Hope it all gets sorted smoothly and hope to see you and the charger soon

Dont want to tell you how to suck eggs! but with the Insurance Del they are a pain! but do not accept and First offers from them and stand your ground.

Sadly thats the way they work, but they will pay up if you are firm with them, takes time

Any one who has an agreed Value will still need to argue with them as they will not offer you the Agreed amount to start with. But keep at them and they will pay.

Nice of them to put you through extra stress not willing to pay up to start with :x

Really sorry to hear about this Derek, I am sure the car will get back to how it was, with the support on here and patience it will come together.

Strength from adversity! ;)

Best wishes ;)

We don't really know each other as I'm a fairly new member but I've seen your car and posts regarding the attack and subsequent repair, now this...!!!

It's disgusting that even if these scumbags get caught they will probably be punished in a very minor way. The state of the country is shocking. I would hazard a guess that the fire is related to the previous attack if it were down to me; some people just can't stand to see others owning something as nice as that Charger, and feel they need to ruin it for them.

I really hope you get this sorted out Derek, your Charger was a real fine example and it would be sorry for it to meet its' end in this way. As the others have said, fight it out with the insurers before you give up on the car. Even if you decide to leave Mopar ownership behind, hopefully the Charger would be saved and could still be appreciated by others.

All the best, whatever you decide...Rich

The NSRA insurance was the only one that covered tools and accessories.
All the rest were not interested. Best of luck with it.

I would certainly try to claim from your contents insurance for those items, as long as the garage is covered as well.

Best of luck with it Del.... Me? I would clean it and drive it as it is.

Someone somewhere knows who done it!

The MMA should post a reward for the conviction of the scumbags.

We done it once when Billy's expensive bike was stolen.. We got a conviction too! It was someone he knew. He lost a lot of friends!
I am keeping this Mopar....... SOLD!
