Err? your talking about yourself right?

And I am not disrespecting his work. From what I have seen the standard of the resto's are high. Not the best I have seen. But certainly not the worst.

I just cannot understand why you would paint a crater like finish on a car. Sure it can all be blocked back. Or perhaps there was a booger in the paint. But if I was him, I would never post a pic up of my paint looking like that! That is a dumbass thing to do. If someone takes that pic. onto another site, without explaination.... Now that would REALLY "DISS his work"!

I certainly would never post a pic up of my work looking like that. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

Anyway, as I already said, Perhaps there is a reason it has been done like this? I don't profess to know everything!

But if there is a reason, I would love to know, pehaps I can use it in the future?

By painting it thick then doing the extra work of flatting it down it can only be better for the customer as every little defect in the paint will be removed.

My car was not painted in this way (paint thin then clear coat straight over)and i have small pickels in the paint.

Thank for posting such intresting post giving a great insite of how the pros work. Some of the welding pictures have really helped me :thumbright:

Certain colours you need to do with base and clear, black because it gets a better finish when sanded and buffed also good quality 2k lacquer has a UV filter in it to stop reds/blues fading,

your small pickels are known as fish eyes they are caused by silicones which disperse the paint leaving a crater, you can fill these with a bit of paint then when fully dried wet sand flat and buff up. :thumbright:

Easy guys it's only paint, we did all the inside in 2k we then want to put some paint on the out side so we could block it all down and final coat and then flat and Bananarama!. It better to wet sand colour then wet sand primer we always dry sand primer, if I had the answer to rust I would be a very rich bloke,
Hope this has sorted it out for you guys.a
