Good to see my old girl coming back to life again, I was only thinking the other day, that car was only 8 years old when I bought it! Can't wait to see it on the road again.

Thanks for all the positive comments, the Scalextric version looks great!

I'm hoping to try and have it fired up by the end of the year. Jack has just prepped and cleaned all the dash ready to go in. :thumbright:

Guess what Santa (the kids!) bought me for Christmas. Its a good Scalextric model and better than the photos make out. I wasnt sure about the orange spoiler but I have found a pic of the real car in that set up so it is correct.

It sits on the bedside table to remind me to get up early and get in the garage.

Progress this morning. Dash and steering column in. Steering connected (that UJ is a pig to line up).

LOTS of wiring to sort out and hook up now, but the large chunks of car are on it rather than all over the garage now.

There is enough room in the garage for the latest acquisition, now the large bits are on the car.
1982 Mini city with 10" Minilites, squeezed into the corner of the garage. Next project. 8-)

Ive always liked them too, but they are getting pricey. This one was cluttering a colleagues drive so we got it at a good price. It will be a good project for Jack to learn about old cars now he is 14, but he keeps looking at Land Rovers on ebay and is saving his paper round money like mad.

More progress.

Thanks to Roydon and Pete for a very useful morning browsing through the sheds and having a laugh with compressed air, hammers and brake fluid.
I ended up with the bits I needed plus a full set of wheels and tyres, not quite sure how that happened but I did stop short of buying the kit car and Voyager as well.
Up at 7.30 this morning, still -3 outside but got all the new bits on.
Result being I now have functioning brakes :thumbright:
Front bled in nicely once I cured a wonky flare that just poured fluid everywhere, and then cracked another pipe from twisting it. Thank goodness for my Sealey pipe flaring tool! Not too bad to use on the car or bench and only £20 delivered.
Now need to get the rears bled, not much luck so far, I think the proportioning valve might be worth a look or replacement following Dave Bishop's suggestion. Run out of days off now, more at the end of the week I hope.

Great progress Matt and amazing how much you can get done when you actually get down to picking the tools up. It really easy to just brew another coffee and look at it (especially when its cold out) instead of banging on with it...keep it up mate...great build and top quality work...love it!! :thumbright:

Cheers Steve :thumbright:
