My 2 cents would be:

Get as much money together as possible & buy the best car you can.

Cheap projects look inviting, but they take up so much time & money & will cost more in the long run than buying the equivalent finished project.

OK you pay more money, but that is an easier pill to swallow, when you get instant satisfaction in actually driving the car.

Theres a good reason that project cars are cheap . . . If you have the skill sets, time, money, access to parts, then yes, project cars are a good option.

tbh, thats my thoughts.
I ought to know my limitations by now at my age.
Although I'm not made of money I want a car ready to go- I've spent to many years under cars with bleeding knuckles to want to do it anymore.
I 'd rather spend money keeping it going than time sourcing rare parts or taking bumpers to be rechrommed
I'm more handy with the polish nowadays than a spanner

to help my learning curve, whats your thoughts on the green RRin my previous post. i'm not thinking of buying but it helps me to know what to look for.
OK i have to get it here and made road legal etc but it does seem cheap, as does this one in the UK

As for the performance option or upgrade option, in my opinion, that is also not a good option to consider straight off for your 1st yank.

Drive it in stock 1st, then you can decide once you have owned & driven it for a while, if it's the one for you.

If you still have a hankering for faster, then you can consider that route later on.

Not in all cases, as there are always exceptions to the rule, such as well thought out & built packages. Faster can mean less reliable or need more attention.

As for how does a Challenger compare to a Jag, powerwise there wont necessarily be much difference, again, it depends on the power plants of each one.

As for handing in stock form, the Jag will always win hands down, same with stopping power. Dont forget an E Body (Challenger) or B Body (Road Runners, Satellites, etc) are 40 plus year old designs, they are technolgies apart.

Can they be as much fun, you bet ya ;)

Its all down to your expectations & what you are after. Its not all about speed (I'm a fine one to talk) some love to cruise, the meets, fun factor associated with clubs, etc. Me........ I love the speed :D

and when he's off the amphetamins....we let him drive his car

not what you are looking for but might tickle yer fancy
manageable size rarer than a challenger in the UK

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C376637#

can take a 440 727TF and a up to 67 8 3/4 axle with no mods if you want

or stick with the 318 904 and aussie axle
all parts availble except big chunks of bodywork

but they do look like a big fat austin allegro from front on

still they have the best ass in the buisness which makes up some what for that

and its never in v8 form gonna cost you a fortune to put right unless it rusts or you set fire to the interior, gets kinda expensive then.

but it would with an allegro as well

welcome and all that... :thumbright:

This one you mentioned in your previous post http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/cla ... oadrunner/ is no longer for sale, this was bought by a fellow member some months ago. I think this too has some paint issues as the owner was talking about a re-paint.

This RR http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ebaymotors/440HP- ... 404169&pid you posted looks =P~ =P~ I must admit, seems very cheap to me. But you looking at another 3k at least to get it over and on the road, but again there are members who can help and advise, you will need to go ver and look at it really, so dont always work out cheap in the long run.
