I would love to keep the car in the current configuration but I do not think I could afford that many Brooms..........
I know from the Barracuda that those motors thrive on revs and will keep going until they expire.
The reality is that the pistons weigh in excess of 900g each, plus long rods and it will not hang together at mega rpm for long.
You fund the motors and I will build them....

Long stroke Hemi is not really the way to go in such a heavy car unless you got ££££££££££'s, so, do as bad Habit has done and put a pair of CNC 440-1 heads on, I think you can still use your block? I don't know details....get a 440 source 572 kit....or see if he'll sell his old 572 which ran a best of 9.5 get a bit of weight off and your there....then you can run 4.10's, the numbers and 6900rpm.....just a final thought.

I hope the motor makes at least 900 bhp; it's the torque that is hard to predict.....
I think it will make 928 bhp at 7000 rpm, and 711ft/lbs at 6000 rpm but the torque is low further down the rev range.....about 496 ft/lb at 3500 rpm....
.....it will make 972 bhp at 7500 rpm which proves your point, but that is HELL of a lot of heavy metal thrashing around at that level...maybe "Heavy Metal" should be the name of the car

Too close to "Hot Metal"

and yes I shat myself a bit turning 7400 with that 6-pk bottom end!! I wish you the best with it of course.

You are not wrong there - I think Mick kippered a 6 pack bottom end at 6300 rpm!

Just thinking ally rods might weigh a bit less if you really need to turn the rpm. Do you have the lightest Pistons available for that particular combination?

Going .990 pin and Chevy big end 2.2 to keep the weight down.....

Forget the RPMs Pete, theres no hero"s when all your parts are on the scrap pile.
My Ol Hemi only does 850hp but Ive owned this engine for 8 years.
Put 4.10s in

I absolutely hear what you say, Dave......
I have caused one huge oil down in the past and do not want to repeat that or another trip to the rubbish tip..........

There's a lot of critical choices to make that I'd not considered. Of course the higher the power you're after, the less chance there is of getting them all right

Still, if it was easy, we'd all be doing it!
Do ally rods offer a bit of cushioning at the ends of the rod throw or would that effect be too small to help?

It does cushion a bit but it is mostly weight saving but back in the day they had a very limited life-span; and how long or short that as going to be was the issue..
I bought BME alloy rodds for the Altered but they maintain you can use them on the street as well. I think they were £1K......
