OK History lesson re the mopar miss,

back in circa 98 i was racing my 60 charger 440 R/T SE with much work in around the car i got the big heavu hulk running 12,9,s and really knew to go faster i would have to either cut the car to get weight out or go nitrous or a real big cube mtr, so i put the word out amongst people that i wanted an E body challenger my favourite mopar, out of the blue a few months later i got a call from a mate tellin me to get my arse in gear and meet him on sandbach services as he had a challenger on the back of his recovrery truck so i did and what greeted me was a red very sad looking 71 challenger very rusty and covered in green slime but the first thing i was greeted by was a big old Dana rearend sat under it  and a big hole in the rusty bonnet yep a shaker hole  it was also sat on old period centrelines flat rotted slicks and flat rotted front runners i clammered up on the rig and peered inside there sat a complete ally 440 sixpack setup, a 440 block and parts but under it all was the mintest black interior and rallye dash i ever saw, my mate had just picked it up from in someones back garden in warrington he had chained it through the roof and hiabbed it on to his truck, as he just thought it a rottehn old shagger so i thought well the car looks fck4ed but some good swag with it so a deal was done and he delivered it to our house i shot home first to sort the readies out as he was backing down my drive my sweetie wifey looked out n said DUNC you aint bought that i laughed and said what do you think ;) anyone thats met my bird knows she is so laid back its untrue but even she was a bit horrified as i peeled the notes out to pay for this one,, oh and as far as my mate was concerened this big dodge had never been reghistered here thougyht it had just been a racer over here then abandoned,

History mopar miss part 2

So with the big dodge unloaded it check it out time so lets see the vin JS23V1 Hey v i know that is special so out with the decode book and bang v= 440 sixpack car MAGIC what a result now homework time rang god well Tony O told him the vin and at that time he knew of only 2 v code 71 challengers he had clocked over the yrs 1 Tim fernells car 2 the hauser car mopar miss, missing in action since circa 82-3 so i had a look round the car some more it had a cage in it bolt in jobbie and on it a racer no from tech i then sterted to strip the car now this had a bare metal paint i could tell that as the paint was just peeling off and no other colours were visible just back to bare metal any way i took the flip open gas cap out and under it was some gold paint strange to bare metal and car for paint and not remove the gas cap but still it was a clue, so out with the old stash of custom mags etc etc, and lets get searching then i came accross the mopar miss car white/black with a multitude off stripes on it yes a gold one passing straight through where the gas cap sits, then that racer no bang painted on the roof pillars, yep its it the mopar miss car i thought i was poirot
now the bummer looks like the car had no registration document or title as it had no number plates etc so i would have to try to register it god knows what can off worms that might open up, but a few months later was ata yanie doodle event down sout when one of my old mates groucho came running over look what i found yep an old bdra magazine roundup mag from back in the day of a rear end shot of the cara nd bang it had a rear number plate on it boy did i have a stiffie on any other pics i had ever seen were either front or side on and no number plate on the front, so applied for a v5 on that no and yep it came back with sylia hausers name on it well her maiden name result

so there it was a bonified v code shaker hood dana car 71 dodge challenger ultra rare car and a magic racing history to boot, i always planned to restore the car back to its tripple black but i never got around to it, like so many of our great cars its now in europe being restored as most brits are fu9999k in ti ight bas tards and dont know a deal when they see it.
oh one last thing that mintest black interior showing only 16,000 miles how many a quarter mile at a time i wonder, ;)

Sorry to the rivet brigade for boring yaall :D   :? :P :P :P :P :P

Brilliant story, Duncan - I can guess how long it took you to type that - but it was well worth it!

I seem to remember seeing the car at your place?

Seems it's nostalgia time , this is a picture I took in the states in 1989 when I was a kid , it's the 'munnsrootbeer special ' olds cutlass from the film 'Hot Rod' we had the movie on Betamax and I watched it at least twice a week every week from the age of about 8 to 12 then I finally managed to get a copy of two lane blacktop as well... anyway we happened upon it on a side street in Oakland and I honestly couldn't believe my eyes , the film was about 10 years old at the time and the car had pretty much been abandoned as it was just an old movie car - but it was a massive influence on the style of the cars that I like , I also have one of me standing next to it wearing neon pink and green shorts as were the fashion at the time but there's absolutely no way I putting that on as I couldn't take the stick
