I do not think it will run anywhere near that 60ft time with a manual trans.

However, I bet the car is lighter than quoted above so that may help the overal time and top end mph...good luck as ever :thumbright:

I have tyre problems to add to the fun- I took the wheels for balancing and the machine couldn't cope with the size :lol:
One wouldn't give a reading and the other wanted 360 grams, which is about a 3"x 6" patch of weights. That's gonna look great!!
The tyres have all sorts of lumps and bumps on them, is that normal for these stupidly big MT's?

Tyre fitters opinion was that they could not be balanced :?

Well Paul, way I see it is there's tyre fitters, and then there's tyre fitters....all the M/T's I ever saw on cars were nice and smooth as they should be, maybe you got a duff set?, are they new?

We had a problem once at the Pod with a 14 slick and had to take it to 4 different tyre places in town till one of them got it done ok, the machines may look the same but maybe aren't, or its who's using them.

I agree with Les.

I got my 33 x 14.5 x 15" Slicks balanced recently.

1 machine would not do it, but try try try again.....you would be amazed at the disparity of balance - one needed 240gm, the other needed 35gm......

They've not done 100 miles since I bought them Les, but that was about 8 years ago!
I bought them and the wheels in the US, had them sent to a mate in NY state, he had them fitted for me then shipped them over here along with my axle etc.
Thanks for the info, I'll try elsewhere for balancing, he did seem a little out of his depth :roll:

Also ... any thoughts on axle seals?

I've just spoken to Dave Billydoo and we strongly suspect my very expensive axle kit came with cheap-n-nasty bearings :?
I guess I'll be investing in some rather dear Green bearings then...

Great fun - you have to cut the old collars off and heat the new ones to get them on - and they have to be installed very quickly...........

tbh I'm more concerned about the buying than the doing, they'll be the most expensive bearings I've ever bought :shock:

Latest word on my wonky tyres- They can distort if the car is left sat on them for as little as 8 months without moving. That's probably happened at least a couple of times in the 5 years since I fitted the axle etc.

Now you know why people take the weight off the slicks at the track, etc........similar consturction.

Yes soft compound tyres flat spot easily.
Never let the car sit on them for long.

Even with normal tyres I always put high pressure in them for standing over the winter months. Any longer than that the car goes on axle stands.

Also most tyres start to fall apart after 6 years and become dangerous to use at high speed. Always change tyres every 6 years.

It's the constant hidden expense of running these cars that made me buy a Corvette mate. Both me and my credit card needed a holiday from it.

I had to chuck away a perfectly "good" set of Eagle slicks recently - loads of "tread" wear left on them; but in reality they did not work (all the natural resin had gone) and the sidewalls were cracking.

Duncan had the same on the AMX.

Put in the bin, sob quietly; and batter Paypal. Sorted. :roll:

If they were the Hemi's slicks your gonna fly Pete, get them wheelies on.....that new track sounds ok :thumbright:

Aye, t'was t'hemi ;)

Wheelie Bars are all installed, as is the Fibre glass front end, and the front end suspension is now set up to give maximum weight transfer and roll rotation!!!!
