yeah i might not be the fittest guy on the planet, but saying that i have never had a job really that involves me sitting down

valeting 20-30 cars a day aint exactly easy
walking around from 9-6 for coldseal mile after mile
working on a building site as an odd jobber

Sorry Si it was a little OTT from me! :D but if you knew all the facts? about why they are on Strike? then you may think different? its not about money NO its about working conditions.I wish the media would actually take time to tell people the full facts :x

Dave wrote:Our process goes like this.

We reply to every applicant to tell them if they have an interview or not.

After the interviews we decide if any of the applicants were suitable.

If we have not found the person we want we let all the applicants know they have been unsuccessful but we will be advertising the job again if they want another try. We also offer feedback so they can talk about why they were not successful which will give them a chance to finding employment in the future.

If we do find the guy we want we still offer feedback to the rest.

We don't HAVE to do any of this but I think any responsible employer (or anyone with a bit of humanity) should.

i applied for a job last year and the advertisement stated that if you hadn't heard from them within 28 days to assume you were unsuccessful in your application, coming up to 4 weeks i decided to call the company on the off-chance, the hr department informed me that they had written to me to invite me for an interview (i never received this letter so i can only presume one of tony's mates disposed of it for me :) ) but because they hadn't received a response from me they assumed that i wasn't interested, in this instance they had conducted first interviews and had shortlisted possible candidates for a second interview, they did say that if they didn't appoint someone after the second interviews they would contact me, i did discuss with the hr person why they didn't phone me to see if i had received the invite etc, their reply was that they don't have time to chase up each and every application as they had nearly 100 applicants for this position,

so simon if i was you i would keep contacting them to see when your interview is

dave credit to you and your company for taking a professional and courteous attitude to your interview process :thumbright:

p.s sorry for waffling on a bit :D

You will be amazed Si how many people think that it is an easy job before they come to do delivery's and then they can not hack it! most leave within a month, young lads and all that are supposed to be fit?

I should calm down as i no longer work there ;) :D

Tony I have recently had several different posties but the young female postie in shorts was a pleasant change. She did only last a month but looked very fit to me, I even looked forward to the junk mail :D

Si NOT a good idea to go in Monday and shout at them. They may have shafted you but then again they may have just delayed the interview. Did you not phone them up again to ask what was happening since your previous phone call ? If you really want to work at this place it's best to keep on good terms with them for any future vacancies. It took me 3 years and 3 yearly interviews to get made up from contractor to employee at a firm I had worked at previously for 25 years !!!

I had to bit my lip many times when I wanted a rant but glad I did, as it came good in the end. Talk to them nicely and good luck
