arnt big blocks a bored and stroked small block turned 180deg?

I don't get the 180 degree bit, but in essence the BB has the same configuration as the SB, but with the Gayness removed

Yes a real head ache saver , and changing the water pump is easy , so is intake no water to deal with , you can change out the oil pump with out having to dump the oil, the 440 great engine

Fair points made.....but if you look at it like this:-
my stock CR 340 with just a .590 cam single plane and 850DP = 371hp
my stock CR 440 with .650 solid cam, single plane and same 850DP = 398hp
figures worked out weight/ ET/mph...+/- a few hp either way.
that tells you something I guess about the 340!

It tells me the 440 produces Bananarama! loads more torque...
