My tuppence worth...having spent five years enjoying a 68 Charger and now owning a 2008 SRT8 Challenger.
Usage: I could not take the Charger on any 'must get there' journeys. So it got used 2-3 times a week most weeks; the Challenger can be and is used anytime. IMO you can't use a 60s car whenever you want unless you have great mechanical knowledge and a lot of spares....I had not much of the former and a lot of the latter.
Running costs: totally irrelevent if you can afford a Hellcat (but insurance cheaper for the Charger, also no VEL, fuel the same).
Character (and this for some IS THE THING about American cars): Charger wins by a mile....the smell, the styling, the sound. But I had to drive it to its and my limitations. With the Challenger going fast feels easy, with the Charger it was more involving.
If I could have afforded to keep both I would have because they are a totally different experience to me, but use them both for their own ends. I couldn't keep both so practicality has won out.
Final thought....how often can you use that 707HP? In Cornwall I run out of road well before the SRT8 runs out of go. It gets stretched on long runs and the annual Nats trip but otherwise????
...and Miles will certainly give it a work out down the track for you

Thanks again guys. I think the whole classic charger thing was just me getting excited about the whole mopar thing again. In honesty it's probably going to continue to sit for a while, having reflected on the situation.
I would love to have it to cruise occasionally on a Saturday morning but in my circumstances this is probably not worth the hassle.
It probably deserves to go to a better owner - I don't need the cash - but I need to think about it as I've had it a decade and I have emotional ties with it.
Re. the hellcat, No I don't need 707 bhp, and I have no idea what a 'road test' is. It won't be going to any tracks, it'll be driven enthusiastically to work and back and the supermarket on a Sunday - a waste? Maybe in your eyes, but I'm a busy man who just wants a nice ride and have always loved muscle cars and being seen in muscle cars and am the type of guy who likes to have the top model. I have disposable income and that's the car I like and just wanted to see your opinions on whether this car is worth it considering I have the 392 SRT.
So, thanks again.. I'll update you guys on what I do.

Great reply, Im in the sane boat, just without the disposable income, lol.
Im sure you know but you can select the 300 and 500bhp options from the screen as well, so you dont need to use all the 707bhp all the time. Same fuel efficiency though.

I spoke with the Local Brandon Dodge here in Denver,Co.
There are only 8 cars allotted for Colorado.
Brandon Dodge gets two, one has a deposit from somebody very important and is spoken for.
the other , they said is pretty much been a bidding war, the guy that has the most cash will get the car .
so who knows how much that will be, and it should be available by the end of the year.

Just bit the bullet and ordered the Hellcat - part ex for my SRT.
Sublime green. Should get delivery next month hopefully.
Apparently sublime will reduce its resale value substantially, but I don't think that's the point in buying a hellcat...
No buyers remorse here... I'm looking forward to it

I dont know anyone, I did hear a rumor that a dealer in Chi town has their orders, in 70 of them, looks like there will not be a shortage of used ones for me to pick through in the coming years

Unfortunately no one will even partially finance me, that even if I put down £30k. Getting paid out of Norway seems to be as bad as claiming to be a Nigerian Prince.

30k Scottish, how much is that worth in real money ?
