adrian.
...which, in reality, will probably be 19:30, the way things usually go...

But if you don't want to take part in the parade, I'd like to think we might be able to leave at the time the parade starts. Except if we're parked down the far end of the main stand, we'd have to go against the flow of traffic heading for the parade lap, so I can see them refusing to let anyone out until after the parade has been completed.... harrumph :x

Yes I saw that as a stand out issue when I received the email yesterday, far from ideal. Maybe we could get an update on this tomorrow if anyone is going and they can feedback their observations.

I find it difficult to believe they would want close to 1,000 cars all leaving at once, it would be absolute chaos in more ways than one.

I think they will find it difficult to actually prevent people from leaving if they need/want to? I reckon this will impact attendance too..

Just got this via. email:

Updated information regarding parking at American SpeedFest

Dear car display owner

Following our communication yesterday a number of people have been in touch regarding departure of vehicles before 18:30. Our primary consideration is the safety of everyone at the event hence the restriction on movement of vehicles in heavily congested areas with large volumes of visitors on site.

However if the need arises to remove your vehicle for specific reasons, please seek the assistance of an official marshal who will escort you to the closest exit point.

We thank you for your co-operation and understanding in this matter.

Thanks Adrian, yes I just saw that too.

I think you're right re attendance Gavin. Of course safety has to be top priority but if they start adding restrictions like these (early start and late finish), it could end up like Wheels Day - a shadow of its former self...

Ok that might be over stating matters but there will no doubt be people who cant get there before 9am and don't want to stay until 6.30pm...

Well I won't be going Saturday now. I had planned to get there mid morning and stay nearby for early start Sunday. But I'll be buggered if I'm going to get up at silly o'clock on Saturday too, and then have to wait until 6.30 until I can leave.

So, just Sunday for me. I think they've shot themselves in the foot here.

I can totally understand they're reasons behind this.
But , as others have said , it will impact attendance.
I've had the kids sprung on me this weekend.
Was aiming to leave early Saturday afternoon to get them , and return Sunday with them.
Think I'll skip Saturday, and wait for feedback , to see if the early gate turn out works !!!

As for getting 2 teenagers up silly early on a Sunday .......................

There is "A New Hope"

Think they've realised that they've shot themselves in the head and not the foot, bit like the election yesterday.

I got a reply from Brands saying you can't get entrance with a free ticket without the car. The new message saying you can get out if you inform a marshall makes me think I will go Sunday. Better be able to get out when I need to though.

I've just had a email back from Speed fest saying we are going to be parked at Colin Chapman Way on both sides of Victory Lane (very cool location!).

Only just got my sifter cable back today so I'm out Brands.

To be honest that start and finish time would have scuppered me anyway.

this is worrying me too. I'm out with the wife at 6.00 for our wedding anniversary. She'll kill me if I'm not there!

If they are saying that you can exit with a Marshall, why not find out al, those who want to leave early and tie up a time and get together, rather than one car at a time and one soon after etc.
