Just been out for a really good HOON with Metallica turned up high on the CD player.
But it was instructional because i see i do need to go back down one jet and go down a size on the power valve too.
But it was a good drive and I just chilled out and had a good time.
Trouble is I keep hitting 100+ every time I overtake someone doing less than 70. I don't do it on purpose. Honest. I just kick down and I am doing over 100 by the time I have checked my mirror to see if it is safe to pull back in.
Crikey Dave, what is that going to go like with the other two carbs hooked up?
Getting these major downers is all part of the hobby, as Sandy has pointed out...it takes a hell of a lot of commitment to run cars like ours these days, particularly in the current economic climate...but would you think the same if the car was only worth 1500 quid?
I've made the mistake of selling some great cars that have consistently outperformed my rubbish pension and even the value of the house...anyway you are way to young to become an old has been talking about things that may have been!
Looking forward to seeing you at the Nats with a big smile on your face Dave!
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.
Well i am glad i only made the one change before testing again.
With the 4.5 power valve the center carb only mixture is 13.0:1 give or take 0.2:1 over the whole rpm range from 2000rpm to 3800rpm. Manifold vacuum never went below 6.3 inches at any point (although I never floored it) and even then that was just the once. Coming to a stop at lights etc the vacuum dropped to about 7.3 inches at times. But I suspect the 6.5 valve was opening a little before.
For some reason the carb goes slightly richer (12.4:1) just before 4000rpm and above. Can't figure that out (venturis working better at high airflow through the little carb?) but that actually helps because the outers are slightly on the lean side so if it wants to go rich it helps me.
So I am sticking with these cards in my hand thank you.

Goin great guns Dave.
Lowering the float height might clean the rich condition above 4K , or maybe drill the kill bleeds into the angle channel (.025") , not all metering blocks are drilled but the dimple will be there , this will help emulsify the fuel to the boosters , or maybe open main air bleeds a tad (.010") , you may or may not of done this but thought i'd throw it out.
Maybe drop 2 #s on MJs?
I would'nt be concerned with 12:4.1 AFR @ 4k & above.
Dave, I can understand why you feel the way you do about the car but I think you might regret the day you ever sold it. If you ever chose to get another car you would almost certainly end up forcing yourself down the road you have gone down to get your Chally to the condition it is at now. Thats going to be a lot more grief and heartache.
Stick with it fella if you can, and I am sure the feeling will pass. That will always be your car no matter who owns it, there is so much of you in it. I have been gagging to see your motor for a few years now and can't wait to see it at the Nats.
