Yes mate, the Por15 acid etches and leave a zinc phosphate coating which looks like galv!
I Scotchbrite that, panel wipe it then primer.
I'll get some filters, I'm not taking any chances again

the paint filters are definately worth having. You will be amazed how much crud they catch.
Going to look great.

The trunk has been a right pain to prep!
Hundreds of tiny pockets of rust all around the edges and on the flange. I Dremmeled it for hours, then DE-OXed for ages. Cleaned that off and hit it with good old POR15 for a couple of hours. While it was soaking I did loads more Dremmelling of the bits I'd missed.
The whole thing is now rust-free and zinc-coloured

Trunk lid primered today
I've done lots of block sanding this week too on the roof, driver side front wing & door.
I spot primed the low spots and anywhere I'd broken through today while doing the trunk.
The weather's been kind today- it's looked like rain all day but not a drop fell on me bikes which got chucked outside this morning to clear a big enough space to do the trunk

Next bit of derusting done- rear wing tops and across the rear screen

...and on to the rear panel, which is the rustiest bit of the car. I cleaned the worst off, then decided I can't leave the bumper mounts on as there's bound to be rust behind them.
Very glad I took the time now!
Still lots of Dremmeling and rust-kiling to do but the worst is off. The reinforcing plates are in my de-rusting tank now for a couple of days
