Ideal shift points work out as;

1-2 shift @ 7500rpm
2-3 shift @ 7000rpm
3-4 shift @ 6600rpm (if needed)

But no way am I shifting over 6500. :lol:

So on each shift @ 6500rpm my rpm will drop to;

2nd = 3846rpm
3rd = 4482rpm
4th = 5078rpm

So my average HP through the quarter mile is going to a lot less than the peak HP shown on the dyno sheet. Meaning 11.8 in the quarter is unlikely unless I am making more power than that.

That's fascinating stuff Dave, obviously a bit more than just a template porting job on those heads! :thumbright:

Oh yeah. ;)

Here are flow numbers for a couple of other popular heads;

Stealth/Eddys
.............IN...............EXH
100 --- 65/79 ------- 57/70
200 --- 135/143 --- 108/126
300 --- 191/207 --- 140/160
400 --- 227/256 --- 159/188
500 --- 242/278 --- 173/206
600 --- 254/291 --- 183/217
700 --- 261/292 --- 191/223

My 906s
0.500 --- 258 ------- 201
0.550 --- 262 ------- 204
0.600 --- 258 ------- 208

I see what you've done now, the columns are in the wrong order. :D

You are right Mick.

I wonder where i got those from? I thought they seemed low. :lol:

Here are some better flow measurements.

I think they make sense now?

Anyway. It shows my Hughes Stage 1 ported iron heads flow just very slightly better than a pair of un-ported Stealth heads. :thumbright:

Took her out for a test drive earlier. Not had her out for weeks due to bad weather every time an event was on.

Only been out 5 mins when I got into a traffic jam due to road re-surfacing. Then I glanced down at the temp gauge. It was reading 220 degrees. :shock:

After swearing out loud I managed to get the car turned around and parked up out of the way of the traffic so I could pop the hood and have a look.

It was just the ground wire for the electric fan had pulled out of its crimped on spade terminal. I jammed it back in and managed to get back home without it coming apart again. The temp was back to normal by the time I got home.

I was only out 15 mins in total. :roll:

Going to do a few checks on it tomorrow night to make sure all is well and then take it out to a cruise on Wednesday night.

What is the 'normal' temp, Dave?

I have it set at 180F +/- 5 degrees which is what the thermostat is rated at and is a good compromise between power and wear.

I think standard was 195F for a lot of these cars?

Found another problem today.

Looking at photos of my car (like the ones Dave McBride took) the car looks to have a lot more negative camber than I remembered dialing in.

Finally looked into this today. Indeed it does have more negative camber.

Found out why. The bolts were not tight enough. :oops: :oops: :oops:

Put it right now. :thumbright:
