What make is that gasket ?
and are the Dougs headers you have one long flange or split either side of the centre two ports.
They obviously fit better than the Hookers, which always seem to blow at the rear port...both sides

Percy's Performance gaskets.

One long flange. Thick.

certainly doing the job apart from that little weeping bit.
do they weep at little, as it warms up and cools down ( when you hear it)...with nothing happening due to the expansion (Heat) when driving.

I know it obviously is...bit of plumbing tape/ or silicon on the header bolt threads ?

Tried all sorts on the bolt threads. Hence my worry it is the head. I am loosing half a radiator full of water every 150 miles or so. You can hear it boiling on the header flange and there are bubbles in the water.

Time to dig deep and stick some alloy heads on it Dave.

I know it is a big expense and they may need porting, but if you are into the car for the long haul it may be the best way forward.....

Magnaflux the heads...that'll find it if its something that happens once the motor is up to temp.

I would have to change pistons too. I just don't have that kind of money.

If I had the spare cash I'd buy them for ya Dave just to see what you could do with em :thumbright:

Anyway, Chrimbo is near, and you never know what you will find when Santa empties his sack in your bedroom

snigger

No way of using either close or open chamber heads and maybe a head skim to give you the compression and clearance you require without a piston change??? There's got to be a way around this....but I appreciate you know your engine very well....

Well there is no way around the lack of money that is certain. Unless I kill off all of my family of something.

These KB pistons are designed for stock sized open chamber heads. The rasied part could be machined off for use with closed chamber heads I suppose. But removing the press fit piston pins from the rods would be tricky and would probably knack the pistons.

Strange.
I though the Edelbrocks were essentially an open chamber 86cc 906 replacement.....

Yeah but I would need another full point in compression.

Am I right in thinking that aluminium heads in themselves provide what is the equivalent of an extra point in compression?

Other way around. They cool the cylinder contents leading to a drop in cylinder pressure.

Thanks Dave, I knew aluminium heads did something like that!
