Just out of interest, what type of steering wheel did you have fitted when you got the car?

Best pic I've got is this one. There is a crack in the wheel though at the base, where one of the arms connects to it. I can take a better pic next time I'm over at Dave's place if you want? I'm getting a new one anyway so you're welcome to the old one if it's any good to you?

Just heard that my front disc conversion kit arrived at Dave's workplace in Fresno and he stuck it in his cargo container a day before he left the States so that was close.

Got it from this place: http://stores.ebay.com/Matts-Classic-Bo ... estoration $595 to buy it and then $75 to send it down the road from where they are to Dave in Fresno. Bargin. Don't be put off by the phrase Bowtie in his shop name, he does Mopar stuff too.

Actually, the only thing you have to re-use is the castle nuts from the ends of the drums.

I will when it all finds it's way across the pond and onto the car I am still on budget so far and am trying to encourage friends and family to buy things from MY wedding list instead of that daft one with all those pots and pans on it. We've been together for years, what do we need more cutlery for? What do people think we've been eating with? At least my list has useful stuff on like gasket kits, wing mirrors and the like.

Hopefully going to see my rebuilt engine this week sometime too which should be interesting, pictures to follow.

Front and rear valance panels arrived at mine today via UPS. Bit of import duty to pay but not much. Now off to take them to meet the rest of the car.

DAMN IT! JUST OPENED MY GRILLE BOX AND THE BLOODY THING IS ALL BROKEN!

Is there a way of fixing broken plastic like this apart from just super glue and hopes and dreams? Please just sensible suggestions I'm really not in a jokey mood. Sorry to be a downer but I went through a lot of time and money to get this stupid thing and now it's broken.

My Mum bless her would have welded it with a poker from the fire or a soldering iron.

I would try super glue though. I assume that the main structure is held together when screwed to the car? If so then that is where the main structural strength comes from.

Get a good quality glue that sets fast and use as little as possible. Brace any unseen bits with ally plate and paint to match.

Then cross fingers.

Yeah, I was thinking that. Once it's all held in place in the front end it should be ok. I'm just still angry as I just opened it 10mins ago. I'll calm down in a bit.

After all the hassle and waiting for it to all fall down on the last leg is just frustrating.

Send it back mate, I assume/imagine you paid good money for it so why should you stand for it, where did you get it?

The thing is, I got it via my mate in New Jersey and he opened it and took pictures to show me it was the right grille. The company that are responsible are the ones that he used to send it from him to me. I've sent him pics and I have all the documents so we should get our money back.

I have also just spoken to a model maker friend of mine who has a special solvent that he uses to melt plastic back together and makes it as strong as it was. So we'll give that a try. Slightly more optimistic now, calmer. May go back and edit my previous shouty post.

Bummer. Depending on the plastic acetone oftens glues it. Revel model kit glue is acetone. Superglue does not like water.
