cheers guys, i didnt intend to go this far but it just got out of hand, all the suspension parts (shocks, springs etc) came at the right price. im still lacking rear brake parts but im looking at making my own callipers with mounting brackets combined, i dont like the kits you can buy as they look like a mechano kits (my front ones are Strange and dont look too good). im also looking at designing the rear anti roll bar set up myself.

thats the sort of thing im going for, i noticed you mounted yours low down, mine WAS going to be a lot higher up (as some of the pro mod cars do) but im getting conflicting arguments as to whare it should be. also not suer whare im putting the X link for the same reason. i didnt realise that roll centre was so critical on a drag race car but it seems it is.
i need to talk to the profesionals again, at this stage its easy to get it wrong

The position of mine was dictated by having no room anywhere else! It was also narrower than the chassis rails i was supposed to weld it to so i had to make 'outrigger' brackets.
Can you explain 'roll centre' please Trev? I'm guessing it's the centre of the arc of body roll in relation to the axle? How the hell would you work that out!

No-one will believe you...
db, to be honest i dont know hence im asking the pros
but i think it is all to do with the theotetical point that the body pivots arround ( i wait to be corrected) i thought things like this were only a problem on cars that were built to handle round a track but im told getting it wrong wont help on the drag strip so im asking lots of questions before i mount the anti roll bar and the X member (lateral locator). i will keep you informed of my findings.

cheers mate, i keep looking at all the different ones on the market and am looking to go for all billet ali arms and fully adjustable links. my only problem is the best place to mount it on the axle (high or low ) frame mounts arnt an issue as i have loads of space.if it all works i might knock up a few and see if i can sell them on to make a few quid

hey backman, if you would like to donate a blown hemi im sure i can find a way to fit it
, the axle isnt done yet, wont do that till im sure the brackets are correct (dont want to end up having to cut it abbout later) if all works out as planned the wheels will fit
the body is coming off sunday (thats the earliest i can get some muscle sorted) then its the simple task of make all the other tubes and just buzz some weld round them and its done
maybe not.

well finaly got a few mates round to help lift the body off the frame, it was easier than i expected
so its now sort out all the other tubes that need to go in. ive got quite a lot done so hopefully it will all be tacked together by the end of february ready for TIG welding. i still have all the gusset plates to make and the body mountings but the evenings are still dark and cold so i will hide away in the workshop and crack on with them.heres how it looks after todays work, some disgonal tubes in, door bars in and the funny car cage tacked in.
