I spent a couple of hours grinding out the rust, paint and filler.
The top left corner is the worst bit.
This evening I've made all the templates.

One under my watch strap, one by a nipple, one by my belly button, one between my fingers- through my glove!
Oh, and I set the Truk on fire
The Waxoyl in the roof caught and burned well enough for the filler to all bubble off one corner!
I had to get the bloody garden hose in there, so much for rustproofing
Anyhoo... all welding and grinding done, zinc sprayed, ready for the new screen to go in

Well I've been slackin on this thread!
The screen went in with a lot of mess but no dramas. I repainted the bits I'd welded around the screen. Then got a bit carried away and gave the whole Truk a tart-up
As an added bonus... since the new doors and screen went in there's no more water pouring in. I'll be able to have a carpet for the first time!
Oh yeah, the bugger wouldn't start on Thursday morning for my first day back after paternity. I whipped out the spark plugs and blowtorched the oil deposits off 'em. While I was at it, the starter solenoid has been dodgy for, well, years...
I pulled it off and tried it on a battery on the workbench and it engaged every time. I guessed there must be some iffy wiring dropping the voltage. A quick rummage turned up a corroded crimp. I soldered it up, refitted the starter and boom! It fires up every time

Great work , and very keen I see
Thought you might like to see this picture of the apprentices D200 truck.
He's been doing most of it himself, but I did the tricky bits at the front , where you had to repair. The o/s/f body mount was pretty rot as was the cross member and upright that attaches to it.
More to come on the other side I fear.
Its the old Backdraft Drag Race Team Truck.

Yes unfortunately, bottoms of A posts and B posts, and below the roof around the rear door aperture I'm not looking forward to.
That needs a person who is experienced in overhead skin burning colourful language welding.
Oh that's you
