I'm a bit more awake now, it was around midnight when I put up the video.
After the swop meet on Sunday Anton and I went into the garage to get all the wiring back in the engine bay, well I watched really, after about 4 hours it was done so were a few other things.
Monday I did some of the wiring under the dash, luckily there wasn't a lot to do, also did a few more little jobs.
Tuesday I put the exhaust back on.
Wednesday on went the rocker covers, dis cap and leads then filled it up with all oils and water ready for firing it up the next day.
Thursday Scott came round so that I had someone here when I fired up the Charger, I'm so glad he did, after turning it over for a short while the starter started to smoke, Scott then undid the drivers side header jacked the car up and and changed the starter for me, not an easy job with headers. John was also here and enjoyed watching Scott do it all for a change instead of the other way round.
Scott asked me why I hadn't put the new starter on in the first place, I replied because the was nothing wrong with the old one when I took it off 6 months ago, (is it really that long ago)
Anyway, new starter on jump leads from Scott's Land Rover and we try again, engine now spins over great but wont start, it trys to start if we pour petrol down the carb, looked at the filter and there's nothing in it, we bypass the fuel vapour separator and it fires up straight away, real bad rattle so had to turn it off, turned out to be the gearbox cover at the bottom, started it back up and let it run at high revs for about 25 mins bliping the throttle every now and again, had wired up the rev counter wrong so wasn't sure what revs we were at, kept an eye on everything and just a small leak from the inlet manifold and a blow form the drivers side header (would be that Bananarama! side) but I was well pleased with just that.
After switching it off I rewired the rev counter and started it back up again and it was running at 2300 revs, not bad for a guess was it Scott
Got no seat in the car so has to sit on a stall to move it backwards and forwards.
I stayed in the garage after Scott and John went home, I took off the inlet manifold and put a bit of sealer on it, also connected up the fuel vapour separator and seems fine now, must have been an air lock, still can't find where the header is leaking from.
While under the car tightening up the trans cover that was rattling I got a phone call from Andy who said he had had the same problem and asked if I had changed the torque converter, which I had, I've put a smaller one on that I got off Adam, that put the bolt holes in a different place and caused them to rub on the plate, so for now I have spaced it out with washers.
I still have the seats to go back in and the whole front end to go back on which is at Andy house being repainted.
I'm hoping to get it all done and MOTd for the Krispy Kreme in 10 days time, if not it should be done for the Ace Cafe at the end of the month.
A huge thanks to Scott, Anton, Andy, and everyone else that has helped me in the last 6 months, without there help I would never have got this done.
Should have said the longest part of all this was the time it was at the body shop waiting for the new screen and getting the screen trim to fit properly.
It's been a long journey but I think it's worth it.
