I was thinking high impact for my own, when it eventually gets to that stage, I've got a while to decide though. Also thought about putting it back to its original colour without the vinyl.

My sensible head told me to keep it original..
However, at the last minute I had a change of heart. I thought, why did I always want a charger, and what was it that made me think they were so awesome in the first place..
Well, aside from the beautiful lines and aggressive style, i always loved those lairy high impact colours, with the bold decals. In my mind they were in a class of their own for those few years, and despite some retro themed copy cat themes in recent years, I think they really went out on a limb to create the kind of craziness we just don't see these days.

It's my car, I've invested a massive amount of time and money, so I want it to be what I always loved.
Ok, the colour isn't original, but everything on or in the car is and will be period correct.

What I'm saying is, if you're into a car for several years of your life, and undoubtedly a lot of money then it should be something you'll love. Do it how you want it.

Have to admit it was the yellow paint with black stripes which grabbed me when I bought mine

I had a brown car like you and painted it lime green so I can relate.

Polished Slot Mags would look nice

I must admit i do have a soft spot for slot mags, though the deep dish Magnums will be going back on after a bit of a freshen up.


I'll save a bigger shot until the car is a bit more re assembled, it looks a bit goofy at the moment on 14" steelies with no valances etc.

Yesterday we got front and rear bumpers refitted. It was a nerve wracking three man job
Also re fitted the rear screen surround, and got a new boot rubber glued on. Whilst i was doing that, my mate was finishing off the bonnet and boot in the paint booth

Today i did all the edges and door shuts. Also pulled out the god awful home made parcel shelf. Think it was made of a kitchen door or something. Underneath was the original, so i carefully pulled that out and recovered it in acoustic carpet. It fits back in lovely and slots in between all the inner screen surrounds just right.
I gave all the interior pieces around the headlining a clean as well, before refitting them.
The inside of the boot had a good scotch padding and a nice uniform coat of matte black stone chip. I've got to cut a board for the base then i've got some really nice quality carpet to put in. I'm not a fan of just having a piece of vinyl table cloth for a trunk liner.

Tomorrow we might do the black stripes. I'll also fit the rest of the interior trim and hopefully get the valances re fitted. I would have done that today, but i thought i'd give the paint another day to harden.

I got the seats back from the trimmers on Friday. I only took them in on Tuesday! After listening to various companies going on about them taking a month or so, I took them to local furniture workshop. I was lucky the guy was going on holiday till the end of March. I said i'd bung him a few extra quid if he could get them done before he went. The slight wrinkles and creases should come out once a few bums have been on them and they've had a bit of sun on them. He put in fresh hessian and foam on the front seat base too. He said the quality of the covers were not the best, and the pleats don't quite line up, but apparently all the "off the peg" seat cover kits are of comparable quality.
The price to have that done? £150!! Couldn't believe it. I gave him an extra £50 for his trouble.

Hmmmm.... of its time I suppose.

I'm slowly reassembling the car this week. Got some stripes on the bonnet today. The more it's coming together, the happier I am that I decided to go with high impact..

Heres a little taster of colour!
Bonnet was finished yesterday and fitted today. I agonized for ages over what kind of stripes, and i rekon they turned out ace! Phew.
Got the valance fitted up and new exhaust trims fitted. Looks so much better without the cut outs for over riders. I'm also totally loving the 72 rear lights

So also today, got all the window and door brightwork refitted, along with new outer window felts. They were a right bast**d to fit.
Mirrors back on the doors. Now body coloured instead of chrome.
All the seats are now back in too. They look amazing next to the new bright paint.
