A very experienced bodyshop bloke named Archie once told me, when I was fretting about the repairs on my Lancia "Don't worry son, you can only look at one side of a car at a time"
Yeah no worries mate! I've not welded the inner panel on yet so I can slap a load of zinc paint inside, then I'll drench it in waxoyl when it's all done

I've finished welding the outer skin now. I've zinc sprayed it too.
More pics to follow once I've persuaded my camera to let them go...

You need to get all that Yak semen off the Quartar Panel, though; it might stain horribly....

You know a little too much about Yaks I reckon
That's all clean and de-rusted now, as the pics you can't see would show you

I had to weld in this little slice of metal to correct a minor cock-up

But I'm happy to report you can't even see the join now
I've laid on the first bit of lead this evening, very satisfying

So, that was a fine example of how NOT to do leading...
I wasn't happy about the way it went on so I poked the edge with a chisel and a strip of lead peeled right off
I eventually sussed it was because the new panel section is zinc coated and lead DOES NOT LIKE ZINC!!
I melted all the lead off again and ground all the zinc coating off.
My 2nd attempt was a bit more successful
I also made a much better wooden paddle which made shaping the lead easier.
If a had a proper body file and a lot more lead, time and patience I reckon I could get this good enough to virtually eliminate filler but I don't and I ain't so I wont
3rd pic is after filing off the high spots and is virtually ready for filler!

Go easy with that lead matey.
It'll end up heavier than a C body !
Only kidding. Looking great. And will truly be a rust free car by the time you've finished !!!

Last bit of weld covered up and the edge is all built up nicely now. I may fill it in some more but I don't NEED to put any more on this side, just the high spots to file down then a skim of filler!
