24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not…

I’ve got to say I’ve never had that happen, they usually strip the thread out of the intake before that happens. A nut carefully welded over that will get it out.

I think, on closer inspection, where the coaters have masked it off, they’ve not quite got it right and the bottom of the stud has been coated in. Tried everything to get it out, but ended up slipping and taking a nip out of the manifold as well. Been a frustrating morning.

Not sure me, a welder and a fuel system are a clever mix :D , so thinking of attempting to drill it out during the week. :-k

Just choose a nut that will drop over the stud, fill the middle in with weld, let it cool/heat soak for a couple of mins, wind it out. Drill it out as a last resort.

Can still be done, you just have to build up a bit of weld before you drop the nut on. The trouble with drilling it out is unless you can get the broken bit out, you'll be lucky to re tap it square.

Cheers Blue, I’ll give it a go before I drill out. :thumbright:

nut works really well.

also once used a piece of flat bar with a hole in it, ready made lever, and can be as long as you want...BUT just make sure its thin enough to bend up out of the way once everything is moving otherwise you replace one impediment to taking it out (snapped stud)... with another (snapped stud with a big bar welded on, that you can't get past the rest of the car)

nothing you cant fix if you have a cutting disk and a pair of mole grips, but still excitement at having come up with a brilliant idea can overshadow plans for the next step once the initial problem is solved

i think you can guess how i know this...by the fact that i'm telling you :)

NUT yeah probably a better idea

Yup! And an hour of an actual welders time, who was kind enough to come and try and help. #-o

Not even the tiniest bit of movement, just kept tearing the nuts off.

Easy-outs next, then.

That’s a pain, never known that method not to work, the heat alone is enough to free stuff off.

Yes, Mr P was of the same opinion, but at least I know it isn’t me! :D

I’m suspicious at this point that it’s been messed with at some point in its life, something just isn’t right.

I’ve picked up some different style extractors to my usual go-to’s, and will try again tonight. [-o<

If that doesn’t work, the manifold will have to come off.
