OK, I posted a message on another part of the forum and got quite a few welcomes. So as to minimize the length of that thread it was suggested i introduce myself here, so here goes.
Some of you may recognize my 1972 cuda fro the last 2 or 3 Euro nationals, see photo. It was also in the last Connected Newsletter and in the Euro Nats program as the car used by Sinton Tyres Ltd (By the way any chance i can get discount off tyres for that?? i wasn't asked if they could use the car!!!, i digress, don't mind really, don't harm to ask)
You may also remember a couple of years ago hearing about Flat Rat Racing originating from Jersey. The origins of the name I'll leave for a later story.
Anyway i bought the car in Sept 2003 but had difficulty re-registering the car i Jersey cos the Vin on the dash had changed when it was renovated 3 or 4 owners earlier, changing the interior from white to black. In the end i had to return to the UK with it to get a permanent export certificate with an agreed VIN taken from the Slam panel and the cowl in front of the windscreen. I also have some of a Build sheet from the seat that matches most of the code. I may use this forum to find the original dash pad.
So its a 1972 not 73 as stated in Connected, it has a 440 that i still need to dial in properly, a 3.23 rear and still managed a 13.4 quarter.
I also got a 1968 charger at the end of last year from Universal Salvage. A guy imported it from the US, asked me and King Rat (Noel)(65 Coronet owner) to take a look at it to see what needed doing to it to get it registered in Jersey (like an MOT in the UK). Anyway he decided to start it up the day before and set fire to it, his loss my gain, the dude had no idea about mopars, just wanted a General Lee for when the film came out.
I picked it up for a song, just over 2K and no rust, dents, no ripples.
Here are some pics, hope you like.
