Any tips on separating the coupler at the bottom of the column from the steering box shaft?

I have column shift gear at the bottom of the shaft that is redundant (car has been floor shift for years...) can all this stuff be revoved?

I'd be inclined to leave it where it is,unless you want to remove it for some reson?
Had lots of problems putting mine back to 3 on a tree (sourcing bits)
BTW,the whole columb has to come out to do this,after you remove the pawl pin.
