You know the slotted bit below the windscreen to hood on a 68 Charger, is there anyway of getting in there to clean the rubbish and leaves etc out or is it a sealed area?
I know where the water drains out, as I looked at Clivey's pictures, but you aint gonna get your hand in there. I was just wondering as mine is full of long "pine needle" type leaves, and I want to clear it out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Thats the prob I have, can't get in there to clean it.
What I did was blow it out with an air line, bit of a pain, but you get most of it out, or an industrial super dooper hoover.
BTW, nice project.

that area under the scuttle has one large hole each side you can see it if you look up in side the inner wing , remove the inner metal splash shield first. if you are doing a complete strip down remove the fresh air vent & heater box. then with a thin air blower , blow all the debris out one end were goggles as stuff flying every where . any remaining stuff mud etc pour a bit of water down there , or what i used was paint shop degreaser as it evaporates quickly then wipe it out by hand & with a rag on a stick , buy reaching up through the vent holes under the dash with your hand /arm , be carefull you don't get stuck,( dont ask

) would be an idea to remove the wings at this time if you are going to . also don't weld / grind in that area for a day if using degreaser .

......

8 hours ,
no seriously laying on my back in the driver side foot well with my arm stretched up in side , got cramp in my calf muscle , panicked tried to get up to extricate my self quickly from that position , head butted the two steering column support captive bolts on the column bracket

pulling my arm across the vent hole so my elbow was jammed one side & my fore arm the other

after the muscle cramp wore off , & i calmed down thinking the firebrigade would need to do a hatchet job on my charger

i pulled my arm out easy , but at that moment sheare panic
EDIT i forgot to mention use a short wooden or plastic stick wrapped in cloth as using something metal it can scratch the paint & when the out side is painted it wont get this very well , so you will need a small suction feed touch up gun on jet , & and just poke it up inside the scuttle & go to town , before the exterior is painted

Steveo, thanks for that mate. Knew there had to be a way somehow.
Glad you weren't stuck for too long
No Adam, I haven't got the Satellite anymore. I traded it in with the big 'O' for the Charger.

A small vacuum cleaner, similar to those used for cleaning toner out of laser printers/photo copiers, is excellent for getting into scuttles and inner door seams, and has great suction and is easily cleaned and emptied.

Steveo - you beat me to it.
Anyway Jules, Steve is right. Its a bit of a ball ache to get to but it is possible. Up behind the dash on the drivers side your heater sits upsnug to a big hole that the scuttle feeds into - all sealed witha big rubber donut like the type you sit on when the Sigmund Freuds are kickin up.
