If you plumb it like that, you are effectivly using it as a catch can & not an expansion tank, to which it will o/f into the tank when the pressure exceeds the rad cap, not when the water expands naturally.

Go buy the desructions on the tank. :thumbright:

What I did was buy a cheap plastic Summit Racing catch "can" which has an inlet at the top and a drain cock on the bottom.

Then I attached a length of brake pipe to the inlet that runs to within a half inch of the bottom of the can.

This now works as an expansion tank. Allowing water to escape from the radiator when hot and drawn back into the radiator as it cools.

In fact if you put some water in the catch can before hand it will completely fill the radiator to the max after one cycle. If you put too much water in there is a bleed hole near the top of the can so it can't burst open of anything.

I just left the cap on the radiator and used the tank overflow to run into the bottle.
