then you can have you cam walk so far forward that it sheers you oil pump trashes your distributor drive and wears a hole in the timing cover.

or the oil slinger wears through your timing chain.


think about it (but not too long) if the end of the bolt is rusty whats the rest of the water jacket like ????? core plugs anyone

I tell you. When I got shot of the Oz Charger and imported the Challenger from Texas I felt like I had gone to heaven. It makes working on cars SO much more fun when there are no rusted bolts and everything comes off with a swing of a spanner.

I was pretty lucky

mines an import and the previous owner coated everything in fish oil

aussie equivalent of waxoyle but made from fish guts i believe (twisted bunch they are)

Mine was a doddle to get apart. Nothing siezd or sheard.

The only sheared bolt that I had was on the P/S bracket on my replacement Aussie 318. Nothing on my old US engine or on the car. That Aussie stuff is made of recycled tinnies,I reckon.

Ha Ha, I had to cut the timing cover off on mine because that bolt was so badly corroded.

Sigh....

Soak.

Everything.

In.

WD40.

And, after that, soak everything in WD40.

Did I mention, soaking everything in WD40.

Just in case you missed this SOAK EVERYTHING IN WD40.

For a week at least.

That will not even cut the mustard on a 318 with ally water pump. The ally reacts against the iron bolt - welding itself to it chemically.

You can use as many tins of WD40 as you like but it will not penetrate that.
