My mate couldn't stop laughing at me running in the house with a look of terror on my face during the torquing down of the heads on my 440 motor.
Don Taylors book "How to rebuild Big-Block Mopar Engines" is very good but contains a missprint in the head bolt tightening sequence on page 134.
there are two number 16's.
the bolt between 2 and 10 should be number 6.
my voices were telling me not to leave it half tightened for to long which led to the panic.
lucky i had a haynes book as well.

Books huh! they are only there to further cofuse and annoy us all ! try and find a factory manual, they are re-printed so fairly easy to get or you can order one on cd, then you can print the relevent page(s) as you need them. The factory manuals are almost invaluable as far as I am concerned.

Heh, I just recently got my hands on a set for the '80s FWDs, had I started with these I could have saved lots of time and head scratching! It helps that they're written to be used by anyone, too - unlike the US Haynes manuals with their comments like 'remove the two securing screws to detach the dashboard' or whatever ...
