I'd go both 15 inch and the 245 and 275....works on my mates Chally, no probs

245 at the front on 15x8 wheels will NOT work without modifications.

And 275 60 R15 didn't fit on the back of my stock challenger on 8x15 rims. (Well they did on one side).

I had 245 s on my Cuda on the stock 7 ich rim many years ago without a problem and 295s on the back on 81/2 rims with lots of rubbing even with the arch rolled.
Its all about getting the back spacing right, as you know
Tyre fryer is your axle in the middle or odd offsets..... how can it only fit on one side son ???

With Chrysler...quite easily!!! Not uncommon, I had the same issue, prob mainly poor body tolerences but also the bearing adjuster on one side only of the 8 3/4 does make a small difference too

Who said they don`t fit? - what a load of cobblers!!
Bolt pattern 5x4-1/2".
Rears, 275/60/15 on 8x15" with 4-1/2 backspace will fit so long as your suspension is not too low, otherwise a little tyre rub may occur on the inner arch. Axles are not centred on these cars, so passenger side may be a little closer to the arch. My passenger arch has been trimmed by a previous owner, not necessary if vehicle ride height is ok. If you`ve got saggy springs you`ll need to fix that if you want big rubber under there.
Fronts, 235/60/15 on 7x15" with 4" backspace

Allkiller, after a LONG thread a few years ago the problem is that the adjustment on the back axle is taken up on the tapered thread and pulls the hubs over, in my case about 1/4" to 1/2". I measured all the spring and mounting points, replaced the springs, shackles and bushes and all that was centred, but the tyre rubbed on the outer arch on the righthand side.

not all tyres are crated equal...my hoosier 295/50s look massive next to my bf goodrich 295/50s,

I had 245x60x14s on the front no problem on stock 14x6 ralley wheels.
But going to a 245x60x15 on an 8 x15 wheel required cutting of the wheel arch lip and removal of the wheel arch lip brace in order to clear the fender as well as the chassis leg.
275s are not normally a big problem on the back with the correct wheels size and the axle centered. But 295s on an 8 inch wheel leaves you with less than a 1/4 inch between the spring and the sidewall even with the backspacing perfect for the edge of the rear wheel arch.
For safety you need at least 3/4 inch clearence. A 295 is too wide for an 8 inch wheel anyway. You are still pusing it with a 8.5-inch.

I said they didn't fit on MY Challenger Neil. 275 60 R15 Drag Radials on 8x15 Magnums with 4.5" backspace. I replaced the rear springs, shackles and bushes. Checked that all mountings were central and there was no damage and still rubbed in the right outer arch.
I know for a fact that they didn't fit on my Challenger (right side only) because I bought the wheels and tyres. I had been advised that they would be OK and in the end they didn't fit my stock car.
So it definately is NOT a load of old (what you might like to moderate) in certainly some cases.
As I've learnt from experience, the only way to be absolutely certain is to try the wheel/tyre combination on your own car.
I'll see if I can find the pics of them fitted to my car.

I had to cut off the spring mounts and center the axle on my Challenger to get my 295s in there. Even then it is a tight fit even with 5.5 backspace and offset spring hangers.

my comment was not directed at you Martin, but at david340s supplier. You experienced it and I don`t doubt it. I am surprised that they didn`t fit without rubbing on your Chally, maybe the ride height needs to be higher than stock, or the tyre widths are different as Jon mentioned. When I replaced the leaf springs, I went with 1" overstock springs because mine DID rub the inner arch when the car was fully loaded. It would be easier to go with 255/60/15 rears - but who wants those?
Generally the sizes I mentioned should fit, but you may need to work at it to get right, but it`s worth it
