Thanks for all the response to my first question, Tried some adjustments on Dave,s advice, now the trans tries to kick-down but changes back up almost instantly??? also when i moved the linkage back and forward it didn't feel like there was any real resistance!! you now like it could be disconnected or broken internally, is this normal??

It should feel spongey as you Bananarama! back.

Other than that I am at a loss what it could be.

Maybe something wrong with the governor?

has it ever been ran around without a kickdown? I can't remember what you said in your original post (you should have continued that post instead of starting another).

You need to PM Blue or cannonball if you want someone to re-build it for you.

Or do it yourself. Don't be fooled by the apparent complexity of an auto box. They are not hard to rebuild with a kit as long as you have the instructions and or a "factory" workshop manual.

Certainly no spongy feel to it, so it looks like a rebuild and i will do it myself, who would you suggest are the best people to supply a rebuild kit??

I take it it is a 904 transmission?

I have been told a few times that the TransGo stuff is the best.

But there are these as well.

You will have to check for worn or broken parts. Duncan Watts (Cannonball) should be able to supply you with parts not in the kit if needed.

thanks for the link, a overhaul kit at $225 carriage is good value, can't stand open wallet surgery!
By the way,to save your cracked carb plate you could try Ali brazing, far less aggressive than welding but real strong, less distortion due to less heat.
Just a thought..
