I had to fit a new rad to my daily the other day. The rad was the newer type made of plastic.
So this gets me thinking why don't I fit this type of product to my Charger.
Cheaper to buy, less weight and less hassle it should last forever.!!!

Now am not a mechanic so before you all shoot me down, be gentle and tell me if this is possible or because of the type of vehicles we are dealing with its not possible.
Look forward to your ideas -response.
Rich.

Plastic? Really?

Well there is no reason not to use one. As long as you can find one large enough to cool an American V8 and it has the same diameter hose connections in roughly the same place.

Rad in my ram is plastic end caps and ally core (well sort of)

the front end of a ram doesn't move around a lot as everything is huge, seperate chassis made of girders and all that.

2 of the plastic mounting ears have cracked.

A guy contacted me last week for a new rad for a 2004 ram, the original had simply melted, although it has to be said the guy had bigger cooling issues than a melted rad.

One other thing as Dave pointed out, they tend to be not very big in the tube area but physically larger to compensate for the tiny tubes
