HI,

Haven't actually got around to giving the car a proper service yet !! So thought the least I could do is an oil change set of plugs etc etc

So, where is the best place to buy plugs and maybe oil & air filter for a '69 383 charger - Year One ????

Any help appriciated

Oil filter is a PH8A Fram, redily available, plugs are J12YC Champion that range will be fine, cross ref or get those at your local factor.

Asking for an oil filter for a Jensen seems to work ok at your local shop who insist they can't supply anything for american cars...

Yeah, from the reference number my local place got a 318 filter (for the Shelby) the same day ...

Any ideas on Air Filters or is this going to be a Year 1 or overseas job ??

Mopar parts are fairly well represented this side of the pond, particularly the consumable parts like plugs, filters, brakes etc and the suppliers advertising in the back of connected all offer a fast mail order service...they will even export to Cornwall, I believe.

Give them a callk for pricing and availability they are all very helpful, I tend to use US Auto, but that's because they are just up the road but American Autoparts, WASP and the others are all generally very helpful.

Year One is great for all the other stuff that is otherwise impossible to get over hear...luckily, plugs and filters aren't on the list!

Year One are great for the restoration type parts. Parts that could only be had on that particular model. Stuff like trim.

A lot of the stuff Year One sells can be had cheaper direct from the people that make the parts. Year One do not make the parts themselves. However they are known for only selling the best parts available and their service is second to non. You pay for that service. Their suppliers sometimes will not post to outside the USA.

Stuff like consumables you should almost always get over here. However sometimes it is cheaper/faster to get direct from the USA. But not always.

I used NGK.com a few months ago to order some very good spark plugs. Not a bad price.

I use Summit Racing for most of my engine/transmission and performance parts. Even though they add a surcharge for overseas orders they still often work out cheaper than buying in the UK.

For suspension parts I use ESPO.

Paul Worrow's last set of big block NGK plugs came in a packet suggesting they were for lawn mower use......Perhaps you could source them at a gardening centre. It may also explain his poor performance at the Nats

the FRAM oil filter listed is a PH2821A.
i bought 2 oil filters from america , thay are NAPA racing filters , ( officialy licenced nascar filters) these are made by WIX filters , i buy wix filters from my local auto factor so will ask if these are available in th UK

Fram PH8a works down Dave the Spare in Cranham. Always has a couple in stock for the American guys.

Just done my plugs (Champion RJ12YC), and bought filter (pro gauge PGO-1A), both came from US Automotive. I swear by these guys and the parts arrive the day after ordering if done in the morning. Nearly everything I have neded to buy for Mopars have come from them.
Funny what Kev said about lawnmower plugs, when I showed one of my plugs to a guy in halfords, he suggested it was a lawnmower plug!

Well of course he did, he works at Halfords - duurh!

He was one of the educated ones!
