Forgot to wind my snubber up all weekend! (Glad I didn't now with all the air shots! This was on the 11s run)

Wow! Those springs are really wound up.

Forgive me for asking, but if you had wound the pinion snubber up, would it have damage the car ?

Possibly less likely to damage anything. The jury is out on pinion snubbers. My springs are super stiff in front of the axle and clamped to avoid the front portion flexing. The pinion snubber is for weak front sections of spring and is designed to stop the front portion s-shaping, loading and unloading the tyres by whacking into the floorpan and stopping the rear axle rotating..If the springs aren't arrested by either method the pinion angle can go doo-lally and there goes the prop!

I see, so the pinion snubber is the last line of defence, so to speak,
Thanks..

Exactly what is happening in your photo Kev. Strong front section or not. The low rpm torque from NOS is mighty powerful. The pinion snubber would have given you a better 60 on slicks.
In the rare cases where a car seems to go faster I think it is because the spring wind-up eases the power going to the floor and then unwinds once the car is moving - giving it a little push. Like the wrinkle walls on your slicks. It is stored energy.

Be interesting at the HRDs then. I'll wind the sucker up and see if I can beat my 1.57s best 60ft

Not so much a last line of defence. More an assistance to get over the hundred+ year old buggy spring design.......

It would actually be very interesting to see what happens with and without.
To be effective make sure you wind it up to about a quarter inch.

Is that a 1/4 inch gap to the floor or raise it a 1/4 inch?

Sorry. Quarter inch from the floor.

But on the track ONLY!

Measured with the driver in the seat. And wind it down before you load your weekends gear in!

Great Pic Kev , love it , were you launching with the gas on?
Gotta love the Caltrac design.

I launch by mashing the throttle from tickover bringing in a 150hp nitrous shot. Flashes the convertor and all hell breaks loose for 2 seconds then it's a gentle cruise to an 11. As Mr Walton said "The first 60ft was great, but the rest was boring!"
