exhaust hangers

pictured below a pair of ‘b’ body exhaust hangers. on mine the rubber strip part between the exhaust clamp and the bracket has perished

anyone know where I can get some suitable material from to replace the rubber strip??

the rubber appears to be laminated with some other (stringy) material presumably for strength when in tension. seems a shame to replace the whole bracket when there is nothing wrong with the metal part

thanks in advance :thumbright:

Conveyor belt. I have some old hangers made of that stuff but too small for our cars. Used to be able to get the stuff from non halfords type motor factors, guess that as modern cars dont use the stuff it's either looking in practical classics or trying a commercial vehicle place.

the aftermarket ones were made from old tyres, the side walls are quite easy to cut to the correct shape and use a sharp drill to drill the holes.

I sent my son out to find an old tyre to fix one of my exhaust hangers. 10 minutes later he turned up with a wheel and tyre off a Mini, still don't know where he got it from.
