OK guys, how do i improve 60' times? My best shot was 2.236, but i backed off as i lost traction. My best et was with a slower 60, so there is room for improvement.
The 10 second Escort next to me had 60' x 1.647.

Impressive, but how do ya get it down below the 2's in the first place?

Power, Weight transfer, suspension set up, gearing, grip....not necessarily in that order ;)

Yes. But what if you need to get to Tescos quick? I say sort suspension then gearing, then use slicks in that order. Unless its raining - then first 2 only- helps with insurance claim.
On way back with weight in trunk, you can test 60 foot times in car park.
Just a thought...

The Darts best 60 foot time was 1.585 (No gas) ;)
11.433 @ 117.19 mph.

4.10 gears, 28" x 10.5" tyres

Best 60 has been 1.75 @12.39-107 @SPR. Couldnt better 1.85 at Shakey/June and it was hotter day, all other things being about equal. It varies lots coz I am carp.
3700lbs +me. 28x11 slicks @14psi. (seem to wear heavily on edges if lower). SS springs. Snubber (doubtful if it touches floor). Launching at aboot 3500 on a 3000 stall. Held at 6000 on limiter. I know the 3.23 gears wont help.
Discuss.

Ohh, forgot to mention, the Dart only weighs 2938lbs.
If you think that's heavy, its got an 8 point cage, subframe connectors, 4 link suspension; so that is one light STIFF, Safe car.

No weight is cheap (sometimes) horsepower....

My best 60ft is 1.77 on a 12.00 pass @ 118 MPH

If you dont want slicks, use drag radials, also adjustable shocks, 90/10 on the front, light torsion bars and as much weight to the back as possible.
You could go 1.99 with a 14.3 et.

I'm on;y able to race occasionally, so slicks are out. I have mono leafs, but only stockish gas shocks. Reckon i'l look for adjustables and an adjustable pinion snuber as cheapish options.
My tyres are pretty skinny at 225 60 x 15 which may limit traction too.

Hey Miles 225 are wide i only have 215 x 70 x 14

One for the experts , what about tyre pressure on road tyres . Does it make and difference for us no slickers to lower PSI ??????

every little helps for cars not set up as race cars ;)
