I have just put my front end together and my manual says to wind the adjuster bolt a little to tension the bar before lowering, is this correct, or should i load the lower control arm before installing the torsion bar, basically i fitted the bars with the lca hanging down.

I would wind some tension in to it before lowering. However, I always jack the car up to take the load off the adjuster bolt to avoid the risk of stripping the thread in the adjuster. It means you faff around a lot to adjust the height but better safe than sorry.

I'm sorry that's not quite what i meant, what i'm asking is should the lca be raised before the torsion bar is inserted, i cant see why it should, just curious.
I wouldn't drop the front down without the winding the bolts up first and i usually jack the front before winding the suspension up.
Maybe, i didn't word the question very well.

Are you saying raise the lower lca's up to the same height before sliding the bars in and if so, why?

Let the LCAs hang loose with the adjusters backed right off or removed. When you offer up the bars you might need to raise the LCA slightly to get the hex to engage. Once the bar is in raise the adjuster until at zero lash with the bar. Then drop the car to see what height it is at and adjust accordingly.

That's what i've already done, i just wondered if i'd done it right or not and needed someone to confirm it.
