What make are they?
Only TTI headers fit without a lot of work with the hammer. The ones I have anything to do with normally clear the torsion bars OK but touch the starter and the power steering box (on e-bodies anyway). You will make more power with the headers but they are a pain in the butt. I am getting a set of TTIs from Jim Wilson. They fit like a glove and are best quality. They also cost an arm and a leg.
But I have decided I can drive with just one arm and one leg so that is OK.

My Hooker Competitions fitted great on the drivers side but thers's fag paper between the collector on the passenger side and the transmission case
Couldn't wait to save up for the TTI's I want to get rolling asap...then I'll give Uncle Jim a call

Not sure what headers I have, but theyre ruddy close to every thing! Only place they contact though, is the crossmember under forward floor pans & that is under certain conditions. A jimmy bar would probably sort that though.

i could borrow oxy but so tight on starter (packet of fag papers).

Don't let then hit the bar. You need to make them clear. Get the hammer out. Or a lever of some sort. Wedge something in behind where you want the dent so the tube does not just flex when you hit it.
How much room do you need?
The answer is just enough.

A mini hi torque starter motor would be good, loads of clearence then, easier to do when headers are out aswell. You will only fry the old unit eventually!

mini starter is on and it is better but still fouled til i reshaped the header with my universal adjuster
