Pinion offset

Anyone know the pinion offset measurement for an 8 3/4" in an A-bod. Looked around the net and in the Mopar Chassis book to no avail.I've measured it at 2 1/4" offset to the right as viewed from behind. I suppose the engine offset from the body line would be the same measurement? TIA! :read2:

Will it be the same as the engine offset? I assume it is. Engine offset is 1.25", but I measured my pinion offset as 2.25". But this was with some plumbobs and a tape and a set square.....

I thought engine off-set in a Chrysler was 2.5" - well, it is for "real" left hookers ;)

Stand back and await incomming...........

This is what I'm trying to find out, Pete :thumbright:
From BigBlockDart;
"In all A,B,E bodies, the engine is offset to the passenger side 1.25". This is normal, and should be left this way"

Who told you the engine offset and pinion offset should be the same?

You want more than one degree and less than three degrees in the UJs in any direction as for as I know.

So IS THERE ANY WAY OF FINDING OUT HOW FAR THE PINION IS OFFSET ON A CHRYSLER AXLE? please......

Does anyone have one they can measure?
I'm sure mine (B bod) was 1" offset, (measured from pinion centre to each flange)

Pete! I measured my offset and Blue's offset at the trans yoke and they were both 2.5" (Moparts Suck ;) )

Hang on hang on hang on !! I have measured the difference side to side, surely I now have to half that to get the offset????????? I measured the pinion from one side, then from the other and took the measurements away from one another IE if it was a 12ft axle, I measured the left tube as 5ft and the right as 7ft, that's a 2ft offset right? Nope! Centreline is 6ft so it's actually a 1ft offset........So mine and Blues 2 1/2"ish offset as measured is 1.25" as quoted at Moparts. Moparts Rock! Take your smugness back, Pete! ;)

Or you could always read the FSM. ;)

Is it right the 69 1/2 & up used the 35 spline shafts? (both ends) , 69 & earlier used the smaller 30 spline shafts on one end only?

All 83/4" 's have the same amount of halfshaft splines, which from memory is 30. Again from memory the Dana has 35.
