Should be OK at those revs with an internal 1/2" pick up. If you some piece of mind then a Milodon single external system is the next step and good to around 7500. You will also need an 8 to 10 quart pan to a) drop the level of the oil away from the crank, and B) to ensure you don't run out of oil when that thing is pumping round oil like it was going out of fashion.

Pete
The dual line systems will run 80 psi oil pressure and are good for 8000+ rpm, the downside of them is the swinging pickup type have the sump with the steering link going through them and can lose prime if there not right.
I took this system off my motor and changed it for an 1/2" internal pickup and high vol pump.
You might need to drill your block for the pickup if it's only 3/8, if you do, let me know i've got a 3/8 npt tap you can borrow.
Also if you want a pump, sump, fixed dual line pickup, remote filter fixing and lines very cheap let me know, the sump has been altered and is not great though but doesn't leak.
Saying that, like Blue says, you dont need it anyway.

They are a good idea, give it a shot then fire, or if you lose pressure on a run, it might save the engine.

Hi Pete,
Here's wishing you all the luck in the world with this project!
Oiling is the life blood of da motor, you can never have too much!
My opinion is, a dual extenal line system, Then if you upgrade the motor, the oiling system is already there.
Milodon is a good setup, but not cheap, just insurance!!!
Best wishes Baccy.

12 secs and slower, factory 3/8 pickup.
10.50 secs and slower 1/2 pickup still in block.
8.90 and slower 1 x external oil line on a swingin pickup can be a cast iron factory style oil pump hi vol/press with a milodon or similar top on it for the hose takeoff,
7.90 and slower milodon or keith black oil pump dual external pickups to a swinger in the pan

Tell you what Pete, you keep those questions coming, because I and plenty of others on the board I'm sure, value the feedback and it will certainly influence what I will be doing with my motor.
You can read books, like the Senatore Big Block performance one which are great, but there's no substitute for the experience of those that have actually run there motors up the strip.
I agree with Baccy, that you can never have too much oil...but you've gotta make sure it's in the right place!
