Which shockers would you recommend?

Hi guys, I have a weeping rear shock absorber - looking about and through past threads etc KYB gas adjusts seem a popular choice. Can anyone give me their opinion on them? Anyone recommend anything elso for a 68 Charger - street use and an otherwise standard set up.
Cheers,
Nick

KYB make shocks for jumbo jets

i think they can probably get a car one about right

they lasted well and firmed things up nicely

Got KYBs on mine work fine and also work quite well as drag shocks on the front....plenty of quick lift.

I fitted KYB's to the front of the Road Runner. I'll be changing them as soon as I can, I can feel every bump in the road.

Competition Engineering adj race shocks front and back. Fronts set to 90/10, rears (super long A-body flavour) 50/50. Work great at the track and even better on the road. Philth remarked how straight and non choppy the Cab felt when going over motorway undulations compared with his XR3i. It just lifts over the bump and settles down slow.....Just how it should on a hard launch!!! 8-)

I just find the ride is too harsh, I can feel every small bump in the road. I fitted them the same time I fitted a front disc conversion, maybe it's down to less weight on the front wheels.

That is a very common criticism of KYB's, you are not alone! I have them all round and they are fine for me, I think they are a decent damper for a decent price, but not everyone likes them. If you really want a good damper go for QA1's, but be prepared to pay for good dampers.

Gavin, these were cheap, about $38 each, I once paid £670 for an Ohlins damper for my R1.

KYBs. :thumbright:

Cheap and work just as well as more expensive brands. Not for the cruiser. More for the bruiser.

I have had the same set of them on my Challenger for over 15 years I think? I like a firm ride and they work well with the stiff suspension I have on my car.

I would never fit a pair just to one end though. They do not work or feel the same as standard shocks. Fit the same type all round.
