They measure 4 & half inches across No 1 & 3 studs , or 3 & 5 stud , or simplified , miss a stud when measureing.
What would be the best way to explain it? , as it's got me going now.
Me number TWO on the keypad don't work.

On a 4.5" pcd wheel (which yours should be), the centre distance between 2 adjacent bolt holes is 2.65" or 67.2mm
Adam, the 4.5" measurement is the diameter of the circle that the studs are arranged on (pcd - pitch circle diameter), so the distance between 1 & 3 for example would be 4.28" or 108.7mm.
So there.

5 lug patterns.
Measure from the center of one stud hole, skipping the adjacent hole,
to the outer of the furthest stud hole.

ie X = 67.2mm
and dont forget the .2
Thanks Kev, I thought I'd heard of a way of getting the pcd measurement from measuring across 2 studs, but couldnt remember it

Or!
Use this diagram. And do the following calculation;
5 Stud PCD = S divided by 0.5878

or.....
S = 4.5 (PCD) x 0.5878
= 2.6451

Or, centre of hub to centre of stud and double it (as there isnt a stud directly opposite)
